I voted Heck NO! Now, I would change my mind if I knew for a fact that the stylist used good hair practices. Then, I would give it a whirl just to see how it goes.

Based on what I've heard about a blowout, I can say with 99% certainty that I'd never do that to my hair. I have been through too much and I'm still going through too much to put my hair through that.

I love the results of a blowout, but it's too much heat and manipulation. So far this year Ive had this done twice. I wouldn't get it done more than 2-3 x a year.

OP be careful. Not all salons are created equal. I'd stop by and look around first. The stylist I go to now does a great job BUT I bring my own heat protectant, speak up if she's pulling too much with the rattail comb (she does this too much) and bring my own deep conditioner.

If you end up going please post pics!

I'm originally from North Jersey and from my experience with the dominican salons I went to is that they only do what you asked them to. I would only get the wash/conditioner/rollerset/wrap and would not take it down until the next day or if I need to go out, I would take it down when I got home. This would last for a week without me putting any heat to it because my hair was trained from it, so it did grow because of less manipulation that was done to my hair. Now I've only seen them do the blowout on the people who asked for it. Sometimes I've only had them do a wash/conditioner/rollerset and they fingerstyled my hair afterwards and loved it! :yep: And at night I would wrap it before I went to bed and the curls would still be there for the rest of the week, so I truly think it depends on where you go...and make sure you tell them what you specifically want..the key is don't let them blow dry your hair out after you've been under the dryer for the rollerset..too much heat!

I regularly go to a Domincan shop near me. I used to let them blow my hair out after a wash set, but I no longer let them do it. I don't like the excess heat on my hair after just being under the dryer. Personal choice but I say don't do it. Let them wrap it and keep it moving.

I couldn't do it on MY hair. Too much heat. I'd probabaly have to cut 2 inches after that.

Let them rollerset you then blow out the roots and wrap it.

I'm a born again natural who's used to give $17-$25 religiously on a weekly basis to the Dominicans for wash and set (roller set) with deep conditioner and blow out & wrap. I had to stop because 1. it gets expensive. 2. the damage was ridiculous, heat protectant what's that? I didn't know anything about heat damage until last year and I'm 25. After realizing how much damage my hair had gone through I said no I will save my hair and my money and stay away from heat. Whatever you decide happy hair growth
