Neutrogena Triple Moisture for cowash?

Hi ladies.

I'm a newbie and have been trying to absorb the wealth of information on these boards.

I just purchased the NTM Daily Deep Conditioner after reading rave reviews but then I read another post with concerns for using it for a cowash because of the silicone content. So......what do you think?

Can I use it as a cowash 2-3 times a week?

If you don't plan to clarify, I would stay away. The cones can and will def buildup.

I'm a newbie, and I have been using NTM as a co-wash 2-3 times a week with no problem. I haven't determined whether cones are the enemy or not--so far, so good. It gives me great slip. I mix mine with EVOO, peppermint oil and honey.

I'm a NTM groupie and I've been using the products for about 7 months w/ no problem-o. Haven't figured out if 'cones are the devil but my hair is growing and it's very healthy.

I'm planning to switch to Dominican products for the winter to see if it's really the truth.

Hmmmmm....I've used NTM DDC for a little over two years....but never for CW'ing...

NOT a good idea if you're gonna cowash with it 2-3 times per week. It has a lot of cones, so it seems like over time, it would negate the point of cowashing.

I don't recommend it because it sucks period. .

I bought some due to some raving on the board and hated it on first try. It DID NOT moisturize my hair once, twice, much less a triple time. It just made my hair soft ...which is NOT the same thing.

I passed it on to my mom who also hated it.

So then whatever CW I choose should either not have any cones or if I use one with cones I need to use a clarifying shampoo at some point to wash away the buildup?

What are some of your favorite CW products?

Yes. Most people co wash with V05, Suave or White Rain conditioners. I personally co wash with Pantene, which is full of cones, but I only have to clarify once every 2 weeks.

I agree with everyone else... I wouldn't use NTM for CO washing. I wash and condition with it once a week and I have to clarify every week or my hair will be really dry and brittle and will feel coated.

I don't know what it would do if you used it 2-3x a week...

I COwash with V05 Strawberries and Cream, and use Elucence as my 2nd conditioner. I find that cowashing works for me if I use a light protein (Keraphix) regularly.

Welp, lemmie get my two cents in. I have relaxed 4a/b hair and I love, love NTM. The Shampoo is gentle and all that good stuff. But no, I wouldn't use it for a Co wash 2-3 times a week. When I did my hair got drier! I did use it once a week and clarified every two weeks though.

I hear what someladies were saying about the cones tho. I have been using Silicon Mix over the summer for my Co-washes and my hair got hard because of the cones. But that's diff because though my hair loves Silicon, it was just too much.

I like cones for EVERYTHING! I tried to go without them but I couldn't get my hair moisturized AT ALL. It was always dry and hard without them. Most of my conditioners have dimethicone as the main cone and I used to have to clarify every 2 weeks. However, Silk Elements has Amodimethicone as the main cone (I think) and I found this one better for cowashing. It makes my hair really soft and moisturized without as much buildup in my opinion.

If you're looking for a good conditioner for co-washing, try any one of the Suave Naturals line. The plant and herb extracts are higher up in the ingredients list, they have no cones, and the best part - their really affordable.
