Neutralizing the hair removes the alkaline traces from the relaxer and restores the hair's normal acidic pH. Protein reconstructors reconstruct the bonds in the hair strands that have been damaged due to heat or chemicals. Therefore, since relaxers weaken and/or destroy some of the bonds in the hair strands, it wouldn't hurt to use a reconstructor right after you neutralize and shampoo. But follow up with a good deep conditioning treatment because some protein reconstructors can dry the hair out. You always need ample moisture after protein.Sweetalmondeyes said:Should I be doing both?Currently I am only neutralizing following a relaxer. Whats the difference? TIA
