Hey all!!

So here is my dilemma...As of today I have a full head weave in, and even though i love the length and the convenience of being able to brush it back and throw it in a pony. My main objective is healthy hair. Since i got this last install about a month ago, i have had the most serious case of itchies. It has gotten to the point were my scalp has scabbed in some places. I have tried everything i could think off, did some research here and still nothing. Ive washed it, i did oil treatments, was scared of the seabreeze since my head was so raw. Im not sure if I should take the install out or not. Also since I have had the weaves in I dont feel like i have actually been taking care of my hair properly. Do yall think natural hair is more resillient then permed hair? I am not sure if Im doing the right thing. The Beautician that i went to said that all i had to do was put castor oil on my scalp once a week and that was it...True? Also how often do you have to flat iron to get heat damage? I havent really done it that often since i mostly brush the hair thats left out back and put it in a bun... but i just want to make sure im not getting heat damage.

Sorry for all the questions, any help is appreciated!!

I'm sorry this is happening OP. :-(

Are you familiar with the hair that was used for the weave? Are you sensitive to any synthetics at all? I've found out the hard way that not all "human hair" is created equal... meaning, some brands have actually mixed synthetic with human hair... And you maybe having an allergic reaction. I would maybe use a diluted version of sea breeze for the antiseptic value on your scalp (dilute to make it less painful) and try castor/tea tree mix to soothe the itchies, provided you don't have too many open sores. If there are no changes, I'd consider getting rid of it. No weave is worth compromising the health of your scalp, IMO.

Good luck... HTH!

OMG you are so right!!! this was the first time (ive had three previous installs all were just fine) that i allowed them to use false hair to braid my hair... the beautician said it would take the tension of my real hair and it would be easier to take out. i remember the only other time i had box braids with synthetic hair i had the same problem with the itchies! I completely forgot until you mentioned it.:hammer: The actual weave hair is human which is probably why it never bothered me before. TY TY TY TY!!! :bighug:im so happy I/we figured it out. ill give the seabreeze a try, anything else i can try?

I can't reply on the weave since I've never had one but I have had heat damage from flat ironing and I think it all depends on the hair and how hot your flat iron is. My hair is very easily heat trained and it doesn't take much, therefore I don't use the flatiron. HTH

Glad to help!! :-)

Btw, I had a hair dresser tell me the same thing about braiding your track with synthetics... That's crazy talk because they use the cheapest dregs of synthetic hair to do it, subjecting you to torture even if you aren't allergic! Get that stuff outta there!
