I recommend Hyder & Hill; the owner is Jarika Hill and the other stylist is Rodney Hyder. They are both good; I go to Jarika. The shop is located on Guadalupe Street, near the University of Texas campus and across from Zen Japanese fast food restaurant.

OT: You'll probably like Austin. It isn't really diverse, but the people are extremely nice.
