I am going to get steaks very soon (with clairols texture and tones)..I am DYING for some color in my life. Should i wait until i reach my goal of midback? or get it now like i want?
I should be at midback by October or maybe November with trim.. Any warnings about color? or advice?

If you can, go in for a hair consultation to find out what condition your hair is in. Color can really dry out your hair, especially if you don't care for it well. If you decide to color, I would probably suggest deep conditioning the hair before doing so.

What color streaks were you going to put in? I think your hair would look pretty w/dark chestnut streaks. I, personally, am dying to highlight my hair also(it's been two and a half years since I last did)...but I don't trust just anyone to do it. Were you doing this yourself or going to someone?

One thing I don't like about highlighted hair is that your hair color can look funny under different lighting. Same thing with pictures. But I love dark hair also, the minute I see a girl from india or a hispanic girl with dark hair I appreciate my black color!!!

That's a great idea 19sweetie! I can find out if my hair is healthy enough for color without sustaining damage. Thanks! If i finally decide to do it.. I will definitely be deep conditioning alot before and after just to make sure.

Beautiful hair missm!
Actually dark chestnut sounds really pretty..I wanted a reddish brown b/c my skin color is medium/dark brown so i know i can't go too light..but dark chestnut sounds perfect. If i do it, it will definitely be professionally done just to be on the safe side. I can understand the apprecition for dark hair..i was looking at Tweet's (the singer) jet black hair and almost changed my mind..but i want some spice/something different to my hair. Thanks for your advice!

As long as you take good care of your hair, if you use the Textures & Tones, you will be just fine!! It's not a harsh color at all. I've been using it for over a year w/o any problems. Especially since you're just doing highlights with it, that shouldn't cause any damage at all!! Just make sure you use a light enough color that the highlights will be noticeable.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for being so encouraging Lindy!
you must have knew what i wanted to hear I will keep you posted...

If u decide to color, u have to invest in major care for your hair. You'll need to do a deep moisturizing conditioner with heat every time u wash your hair. I made the mistake of coloring (bleaching) my relaxed hair a few years ago, and my hair became incredibly dry and broke off. And I started off with golden highlights. But I never knew that major moisturing treatments were a must, and keeping heating appliances at minimum. I will never, ever permanently color my hair again, it really is not worth it. Because it just ends up growing out and then u have to retouch, and retouch some more. And then that just adds to more damage.

Chemical on top of chemical is not good, especially for relaxed hair. Choose one, the relaxer or the color.
