I'm self-relaxing with Silk Elements (mild) on Friday. I know there's a thread that tells the "how tos". Could someone please update me with this information and any advice that would be helpful.
I know how you feel I relaxed for the first time on Thanksgiving. I was 4 years natural/Flat ironing. I used the silk elements course. I am out of practice applying relaxers and it I took a little to long applying the relaxer than I should have. I didn't smooth my ends as good as I should have so now I'm texlaxed. I will do a corrective relaxer on the New Years week end. One lady suggested to practice adding a relaxer using conditioner. I guess my advice is pretty generic: Make sure you keep your ends moist (I deep condition my hair every 2 or three day using the Generics version of Humectress from Sallies, I also use Neutrogena triple moisture and seal with mango butter). Don't pull your hair tight (I use satin scrunchies and ouchless bands, plus I wet bun alot to protect my ends). I have to avoid heat when my hair is relaxed it dries out way to easy to use heat. You might want to invest in some rollers to wet set your hair for straighting or styling. You'll do great, God bless.
