I'm 23 weeks post. I'm relaxing on Saturday. Just washed for the last time before my relaxer at the salon. I'm prepping my hair like Sistaslick said in her article. Just clarified, did a protein treatment, conditioned. Now I'm sitting here with half-damp relaxed, half-dry hair (at the NG which is 2-3" natural and super coily). Rollersetting at this point is a no-go for me because I'll still have to blow dry the NG.

I need a style to wear for the rest of the week.
Bantu knots? Twistouts? What do you suggest?
You can see what I look like in my fotki (no PW needed).
I just need something quick and easy.
Because I don't really want to manipulate my hair too much.
TIA. :drunk:

Wow, I think we are NG twins for real! Your NG looks just like mine, no joke! (check out my myspace page, you'll see)

Tell me, what made you decide to relax after your 23 week stretch? What was it like dealing with your texture for an extended period of time?

Oooh we do have the same texture! Yay, we're hair twins! LOL.
Truthfully, I like my straight hair more than my curly hair.
I'd rather rock a wig until I was ready to BC and just have a semi-TWA.
My SO is graduating in two weeks and I wanted to look extra-cute for it.
Plus, I just want to see my length. I'm pretty sure I've FINALLY hit SL.
Dealing with the texture wasn't so bad until my NG actually started curling up.
I had to blow it and flat iron it and watch out for humidity.
Because my NG would puff right on up and leave me looking crazy with relaxed ends.
Using coconut milk and yogurt definitely helped to loosen my texture.
After that, it was a breeze really.
This past week I've been rocking a ponytail faithfully.
But this week, since I'm relaxing, I didn't want to have any product buildup. Nor do I want to mess with my scalp.

That's really cool! You just gave me a six-month glimpse down the road, lol! So thanks for that. Don't let those little coils fool ya, a lot of length can hide in them! You'll probably be pleasantly surprised when you relax.

What relaxer are you using? Are you going for a texlaxed look or for bone straight?

PS We must have the same African tribe in our blood or something ;-)

The shop I'm going to mostly uses Affirm. But I will see if they have any other relaxers in stock. My hair responds pretty well to Affirm. But even better to Vitale, which I don't think they carry. I'm going for a semi-straight look. I still want my hair to have that thickness, but not be stick straight. I just hope she doesn't get scissor happy. I'll be highly pissed. But I've known her for like 10+ years so I trust her with my hair.
