ANY NATURALS WHO STIL GET SPLITS EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE TAKING CARE OF THERE HAIR. ARE WE ALWAYS GOING TO GET THEM NO MATTER OUR REGGY?

I just finished trimming about 1/4 inch yesterday because of splits and pixie knots. I only use heat about 6 times in the last year, so I don't think it is from that. I wear two strand twists as my regular style with the occational puff. I DC weekly. I think there is just no way around them.

That's a good question. I've noticed that when I wear it straight I don't get as many splits but as soon as I switch over to my natural weeks I get all types of damage on the ends.

I always have split ends, no matter how careful I am with my hair. Since I got a 3inch trim about 2 months ago I have used heat twice. I was checking my hair out the other day and I have a lot of split ends.

I think my hair is just prone to them, I have always had issues with them. I have loose curls and my hair is easy to detangle, so I don't know what the real culprit is...I really don't use heat that often either. I am coming to the conclusion that I need to trim more often.:nono:

There will always be splits in my hair too. They come from the knots being pulled out during detangling. I have them less often after I've worn two-strand twists for a couple of weeks.

since the split never travel more than .5 inch up the strand I just leave them.

I haven't really trimmed my hair since a "hair accident" in June when I though I could wear my hair shrunken and not have it tangle:spank:

now I do have splits but I am taking care of my hair and will trim in December (end of Bootcamp)

me too. I am just prone to split ends no matter what I do.

I get tons of split ends when I use any kind of direct heat (including ceramic flatirons) no matter how careful I am, what heat protectant I use or how infrequently I use it. I finally get it after being hardheaded for so long, so I am avoiding all heat indefinitely.:drunk:

I also learned that my hair hates to be messed with all of the time, so I try to limit the amount of styling I do on a weekly basis. And deep conditioning helps a lot.

I always had split ends before, and I used to dust the ends every 6-8 weeks, BUT since I stopped using all kinds of brushes and combs my hair has thrived and grown longer than I ever thought it could. :yep:
I haven't dusted my hair in 1,5 years and now I see that I probably ought to within the next few weeks. Wonderful!

Finger combing was the way for me :)

I just wanted to add that of course I don't use heat or any harsh chemicals...only a semi permanent hair color every now and then, that's all.

I agree with most of the ladies in that splits are inevitable whether you're relaxed or natural. I've been natural for years now and have been trimming on a regular basis to keep the splits at bay.

The only time that I really suffered with split ends was when my hair was blonde. It just killed my hair! The only way to get rid of them is to keep up on your trims. I know for myself, I do "preventative maintence" such as protein tx 4 times per year, dc tx 2x per month, trimming every 3-4 months and keeping my hair mainly in protective styles. I know that I get more tangles and knots when I wear my hair out. KNOTS? well I just leave them be, especially if I have already trimmed. I try not to rip them out, I just snip them off if they are really stressin me. Otherwise really I just make sure to "seal" my ends when in twists.

I have a lot of split ends too! I've tried to trim them away several times, but they don't seem to go away. I don't use heat on my hair (except occasionally when I dry my freshly washed hair in braids with a diffuser), and I don't manipulate my hair much (at least I don't think I do). I actually treated my hair worse when it was relaxed (bleached and then put another permanent colour on top), and I never used to have split ends.
Now I try to ignore them, because I really don't want to cut my hair off only to have another full head of splits a year down the line :nono:.

very fine hair no matter if natural or not is prone to splitting because it seems to have less cuticle layers. with that in mind weather your hair is fine or course natural you must keep it well moisterized at all times plus keep it from drying out if you dont want to get any splits. i often wear my hair in pony tail two strand twist or ill wear it up. but ill keep it 95 percent moisterized its a must!!!!!!
