Hey Ladies,

I'm trying to find a good wig regimen. I'm thinking of just deep conditioning once a week and french braiding my hair. I will keep it moisturized daily with stay soft fro spray and daily scalp massages with oil.

Mid week, I will rinse my braids in the shower and put a little conditioner in it and take it down at the end of the week and start all over again.

I've been combing my hair out everyday and i'm seeing alot of hair in my comb. (even though I wet it down first). So I think the less I manipulate it ,the better it will be.

I just want to know if you think this will work out good for me and please add any suggestions.

Hi Savvy Sistah! :hiya2:

I've been wearing half wigs too for about the last month and a half. My regimen is pretty similar to yours, but I've found that I cannot comb my hair at all during the week or else I'll experience a lot of hair in the comb as well. I just pretty much restrict my combing to wash days. During the week, I take down my french braid every other night to moisturize and seal my ends with oil. Then back into the french braid it goes...no combing and maybe just a little brushing of the edges with a soft boar bristle brush to get it all back into the braid.

HTH!

I wear whole head wigs and have two basic regimines:

1st: Have my hair braided down to my scalp in a circle. Keep scalp moisturized/oiled daily and whole head baggy (no choice) at least 4 nights a week. I do not wash my braids. Every 4 to 6 weeks I'll take them down, wash, deep condition, and trim if necessary. I got quite a bit of growth/retention from this method. Detangling is pretty easy, and the shedding is normal.

2nd: Wear my hair in 2 to 8 french braids. Keep scalp moisterized/oiled daily. Baggy ends 3 to 5 nights a week. Take braids down every two weeks for shampoo and moisterizing deep conditioner. Deep condition with protein every 3rd wash. Detangle and blowdry w/out attachment. Light to normal shedding.

Right now I'm doing #2 because my hair needs more attention. But for the most part my hair does the best when I leave it alone. Very little manipulation unless and until absolutely necessary. I also wear satin caps under my wigs to prevent breakage/friction. HTH:)

I just wash and DC once a week. I generally don't wear my wigs for an extended period of time. It's only for a few days or so here and there.

Similar to Megeanita's no.1 just that I co-wash every other day and do a whole wash and DC with the whole Aveda DR line once a week. I oil scalp everyday with BT/MTG/ Vatika and spray everyday with my leave in mix or rub Giovanni Direct and seal. Seems to be working great

I was doing this recently for about 6 weeks. My hair really liked it. It was cornrowed back and I'd co wash each night with White Rain Citrus and spray with some care free curl and use a little oil.

Here's what i do as i wear half wigs on and off but not for extended amounts of time.

1. Cornrow the hair straightback, wear a satin skull cap and pop the wig on top of that.
Every night i'll use a braid spray, leave-in conditioner and seal with coconut oil.
Wash every 2 weeks.

or

2. Individual twists and put the satin skull cap on top of that. With this style i can take the wig off and still have a decent hairstyle as cornrows don't suit me.
