Hi,
I am natural with 8 inches root to tip hair and I am trying to grow my hair to APL before I relax. I think its better to achieve some length before relaxing again. If this is your strategy, what is your current length, what is your target length, and what relaxers are you eyeing for that grand relaxer day? What staples do you intend to stock up on?
flat iron?
relaxer?
daily moisturizer?
conditioner?
protein treatment?
oils?
Do you think you will CO your relaxed hair. What will you try to avoid bearing in mind all the mistakes you made in your prior relaxed experience?

I will definitely relax half inch off the scalp. thats my number one rule. no relaxer will touch my scalp.
I will use phyto relaxer 1, coconut oil (someone posted that it can penetrate hair proteins), chi iron (because it is small and easy to manage) I will use affirm 5 in 1 (It made my hair drama free when I used to use it. I might stick with keracare conditioning hairdress as a daily moisturizer. For protein, I will use aphogee (it is tried and true - will stick with it)

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS MISSION IN MIND THIS IS THE FIRST THREAD I SAW MADE FOR A TOPIC SUCH AS THIS ONE

well currently my hair is almost APL my ends still have relaxer and bleach on them but maybe a good 4inch of new growth is none relaxed...( i actually love the natrual hair , might not ever relax again)

if i do relax again i'll be using phytospecific relaxer
flat iron = babyliss ceramic pro

daily moisturizer? honestly i don't use much grease or oil

conditioner? im a product junkie but i prefer anything that detangles and softens like a MATRIX shampoo for instance

protein treatment? emergencee or DRC28 or mizani hydrafuse

oils? i do Hot oil treat ments with a product from SALLy'S called ION hot oil
smells great and leaves my hair sparkly

if i decide to stick with a product line its going to be NEXXUS new Professional line which is called PHYTO ORGANICS/ NEXXUS the hydruss shampoo is the shatttt

Thanks for the feedback. Feel free to submit other questions you would want to ask naturals who are planning to relax after reaching the desired length. All the things I wonder about include:
6 weeks before relaxing, i want to do protein treatments every week to strengthen my hair but i dont know if this is right.
I am still trying to decide whether or not I should use a mild and texlax or regular and go straight.
My coming date is June 2007 summer. By then, at half inch per month, I should have 12 inches. that should be armpit length for me.

I will probably start the strengthening process from Aprill. I will relax June 22.

I am thinking of relaxing when I reach waistlength. I wear my hair straight 75% of the time anyways, so I am really considering it now. I used to love my relaxed hair, but I always had issues with breakage and I really did not know how to care for it. I am not sure, but I might....

I think I might do it when I get to weist lengt also, my natural hair now is heading for bra strap length, so I think I will be relaxaing again some time in year 2008;)

im quite interested in texlaxing but need to gather more info before i decide for sure. It will probably be next summer, but im battling because i still love my natural texture. I just want a changer.

One more question. If you will relax after a certain length, will you do it yourself? If so, do you think you will be able to manage that length if this is the first time you are growing your hair to this length?

I am waiting till I get to 12 inches to relax but I dont think I have ever been 12 inches in my life. so even though I am used to relaxing my own hair, I dont know how skilled I will be in managing it when its a bit longer. I am thinking of relaxing half in one day and half the next with a mild relaxer. Thats the only solution I can think of.

If you plan to relax your own hair who will you let trim the ends? I wish I had someone I could use for this but I think after all those stories, I think this I will have to do myself too.
