...what is your fave product to use when DCing on your dry hair?

Also, do you usually do it overnite?

If not, for how long (do you sit under a dryer)?

I DC on dry hair with AO GPB for about 30 min with no heat.

I have not tried DC on dry hair overnight. But when I DC overnight on wet hair, I get a lot of breakage. Maybe I should consider trying it with dry hair.

I always DC on dry hair, and I consistently use the same product(s) - my beloved Elasta QP Intense Fortifying Conditioner, sexed up a bit with some SAA and some Honeyquat and a lil hibiscus powder and mebbe a touch of salt.

I do usually do it overnight - my hair likes being soaked in DC for up to 24 hours, then my scalp start to complain. I prefer overnights, because - well, I'm not doing anything else then, so my hair doesn't get in the way of my doing my weekend things.

If I don't do it overnight, I'll do a steam treatment under the dryer - I usually sit there for about two hours - largely because that's the max I can stand. I've done one hour, and I could tell the difference. :yep:

I'm transitioning, so I'm not fully natural. Anyways, I dc on dry hair with AOHSR under my heat cap for 45 min- 1.5 hrs. This Sunday I got a late start and I was tired, so I ended up sleeping with the AOHSR. The next morning, it was such a dream to detangle and my hair has been really soft for 5 days now (I usually wash on Sun and Wed). Also, at a minimum, I always put honey and coconut oil in my AOHSR, but sometimes I also add amla, castor oil or TJNS.

I DC usually w/o heat using Aubrey Organics GPB and Honeysuckle Rose. I usually stick to the directions but if I'm doing something else, I may have the product on my hair for longer than the 15 minutes recommended.

I do it overnight on dry hair as a pre-poo. Depending on how I feel or what I have on hand I use:

EVOO
Shea Butter
Coconut Oil
ANY kind of conditioner but just a tad bit (usually Aubrey's GPB, Joico, Suave Humectant)

I concentrate on my roots since I'm transitioning, get up in the a.m., drive to my stylist and she rinses it out and continues with a wash, condition and the rest.

I will either DC for about 30-1 hour on dry hair either using Alma Oil, Aubrey Organics -Honeysuckle Rose, or Burt Bees Pre-shampoo Avocado Butter Treatment.

AOHSR is a great conditioner on dry hair. The other day, I put loads on then made 4 plaits and wrapped in cling film. I then exercised for an hour to steam it up. It turned out great! So so soft. I don't normally use it as it's expensive but it is wonderful. I wish i could use it every week.

hey jazzmommy, just a heads up in case you haven't used the BB's Avocado Butter before - it's sticky like all get out. I literally used an entire tube on my head because otherwise it was impossible to part and put into my four twists. it's okay, but it's not for detangling :nono: sorry for the unsolicited advice - esp if you've already used it ;)

I use the same products, whether I DT on dry or wet hair. I prefer to DC on wet hair, but don't like getting in and out the shower.

I use a mixture of products--Aubrey HR, Yes 2 Carrots, sour cream, egg, olive oil.

all of these together sound AMAZING!

They are! :yep: Sometimes I don't put a conditioner in there at all (I mainly use that to thicken it up and keep the oils/butters from running down my neck when I realize I've gotten heavy-handed). Whatever mix I'm feeling.. it's ALWAYS including EVOO.

I am almost sure that pre-pooing (my hair) with these ingredients are one of the main reasons why my transition is going great. I haven't experienced ANY breakage, my hair STAYS soft and hydrated and it is really strong and thriving.

My 2 favorite conditioners to DC on dry hair are AOGPB and AOHSR. I DC overnight with AOHSR all the time and my hair loves it! When I use the AOGPB I leave it on for at least 2 hours but I have never used it over night like I do AOHSR... I guess because its a protein conditioner.

I use ORS Hair Mayo. It's not my favorite anymore (I think they had re-formulated when I purchased this jar and I didn't know about it). But it works okay. I'll use it up til the jar is gone.

I usually let it sit on my hair overnight with a plastic cap and then shampoo and condition like normal in the morning.
