Used to wear my hair in individual braids, but then learned I retained more length with individual twists THEN recently learned I retained alot more with straightened hair. So now its in a cross wrap :)

When I do finally get around to getting started in the PS wig game I feel I'll achieve the best flatness with mini braids. Cornrows used to be good but now my cornrows are massive, I would have to do the super skinny kinds and I think mini braids are more resilient and pretty.

I would never do twists because twists are round and braids are flat it would only be small to medium sized individual braids or small cornrows to achieve the ideal flatness.

Medium sized individual twists. I'd say anywhere between 24 and 36 twists, depending on my mood xD
As for the cap, I wear two. One light satin cap on my head, and a wig cap over that one. I find that it protects my edges and keeps my hair from drying out. Best protective style ever! :D

Small cornrows going from front to back. I make to do one or two horizontal braids at my nape and edges.

beehive cornrow, separate horizontal cornrow fornapr, separate cornrows/flat twists for front/edges (to reduce tension) down both sides

I have a question, what's the reason to get the cornrows at the the nape horizontal? I will be getting cornrows tomorrow to wear wigs/half wigs till June.

@Skiggle actually got this tip from a thread that @mooks hair started about how she grew her nape back - http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=197345&highlight=nape . My nape is prone to breakage and a diff texture from most of my hair and very oddly shaped (sort of like a bridge) so a separate cornrow helps prevent breakage.

I just started using my wig again this past week. So far I just pull my hair into a wet bun. It shrinks so much when wet that there are really no bumps.

my reason is cuz my nape is abnormally... uhm low. so if straightback cornrows extend all the way down my nape i can't bend my neck :look: (that sounds sort of freakish i guess)

currently i have small-mini twists but i prefer cornrows since they lay flatter and are easier to wash with less dreading potential (the tips of my twists and the roots of my twists tend to matte up past about 1.5wks w/ frequent co-washes)

Got my hair cornrowed!
Don't mind all the pins. I got the horizontal cornrow for my nape.
Thanks for everyone's advice! Leaving it in until the Jan 26, 2012
Going to order my wigs/halfwigs tomorrow.
