My mother BC'ed this week and I am in the midst of trying to get her together. Her hair not quite shoulder length, and her hair appears to be 3a. With this being new to her, I'm trying to give her as much help as possible. She is from the school of washing her hair once a week, Motions moisterizer (like the pink lotion), and we bicker about her habits once a week! Now that she is natural, I am trying to introduce her to different moisterizers, conditioners and gels.

One of the bigger issues that we are having is that she goes to work at around 7am and works until 4pm. She is also in college, and she is busy in organizations as well, so she keeps a pretty busy schedule. I want to get her on a great KISS regimine. Can ya'll help me?

Do you cowash?

What is your regimine (including products)?

How do you (& your hair) deal with a busy schedule?

Thank you in Advance!

I'm bumping for you. I really can't give you all that much advice because my hair is more textured. I hope someone else can chime in and help you though!

I'm not a 3a but I'll respond. I don't think we have many 3as on the board. How has she been wearing her hair? Is it frizzy? Is her hair fine? Some of the products we use may weigh her hair down if so.

Do you cowash? No. I wash with shampoo once a week.

What is your regimine (including products)? I wash once a week with EQP Creme Conditioning Shampoo and DC with DPR 11. I usually add a leave in but that depends on what I have on hand. Sometimes EQP Intense, Shea Moisture, Nexxus Humectress, etc. I use ecostyler gel.

How do you (& your hair) deal with a busy schedule? I wear my hair in a bun a lot because it's easy for me to do fresh out the shower. It'll last me a few days before I need to take it down and redo. When my hair was shorter I wore wash and gos or twist outs. A twist out with the right products should hold for at least a few days. I can usually get a week out of one and that's without retwisting each night.

A wash and go was my best friend when my hair was shorter. Even if I did not wash my hair everyday, I was rewetting it in the shower everyday, so that my curls would come back to life. Depending on how porous her hair is and how well it holds moisture, she may not need to do that, especially if she is wearing a silk bonnet to bed each night. A light mist of water/condish combo in a spray bottle and a little fluffing might do the trick. HTH
