How does that make yall feel? :perplexed

For me it's a combination of disappointment and "are you SERIOUS?!?!?" :look:

I was at work yesterday and had a conversation with a person that I thought was relaxed, but just a really good "stretcher"

HER (talking to someone else): I've been natural for about 5 years now.

ME: WHAAA???? I thought you were relaxed?!

HER: No. I just get it washed, pressed, and flat-twisted. At the end of the week, I do it like this.

ME: Oh, twistout. :yep: Why are your ends so straight? This is what frightens me about using heat. Is that my hair won't revert. :nono:

HER: Oh, this is how my hair grows. I don't have a bad grade of hair.

ME: Oh. :look:

At that point, I decided to cut bait. This girl was standing here with literally 3 inches of heat damaged, bone straight, limp ends, trying to convince me her hair grows out of her scalp like this, when clearly it's not the case. :nono:

I felt "cheated" out of a decent, informative conversation (and possibly some hair care tips and product recommendations ). I was like "Damn... :ohwell:"

I know it's not right to laugh, but some people couldn't care less about hair care. I don't use hair board lingo to people in real life. I'm sure she had no idea about 'reversion' or 'heat damage'. She was going for style, not health.

I've only been on this board for a little over a year, so I really don't have room to talk about the unedumecated (yes its spelled right ). 2 years ago I wouldn't have know anything about stretching or heat damage, or bantu knot outs, or the 50 - 11 other things on this board.

I probably would have found her conversation amusing. And if she wanted to know something I would share a little bit. But if she didn't I wouldn't think anything of it. Because most people I see from day to day don't know anything about their hair whether they are relaxed or natural.

Even when I go to the hair groups here, they don't know much either. So I feel lucky to have found LHCF.

Well i stopped asking others for hair tips a while ago natural or relaxed. I asked a clasmate of mine how did she get such long healthy hair. All she told me was that she doesnt relax her hair and uses a deep conditioner called "silicon something". She didnt give me much info ther than that and i was so dissapointed.

Most people dont care that much.some one asked me how to grow healthy hair and i wrote out the basics "dont put too much stress on hair,be gentle, deep condition, protien and moisture etc and it was still too much to follow lol

What's interesting I've met naturals who are desperate for longer hair but are clueless about how to get it and aren't open to suggestions. The sister of my BFF has been stuck at SL for years and is desperate to get longer hair.:ohwell: I used to be where she is (pre-LCHF) and naturally I tried imparting what I've learned (DC-ing, moisturizing daily, ACV, figuring out what products my hair likes, vitamins, minimizing heat usage etc.) and got a big "I don't have time to do all that stuff and I don't need it anyway.":perplexed At least I can say I tried.
