I'm hoping to get braids in the next month or so and wanted to know if anyone could recommend a good braid spray. The medicated one I loved by Better Braids seems different (I think they changed the formula :nono: ) and I'm allergic to darned near ALL of Africa's Best stuffs. :( Any suggestions? Help!!!

Braid Sprays make me itch something terrible. I just spray Infusium moisturizing leave in on mine and run some coconut oil through them and on my scalp ever so often.

Can't make any suggestions based on my experience (I just mix my own spray moisturizer) but I've heard raves about Taliah Waajid Mist Bodifier. I was just thinking of picking it up this week and givng it a try, as a matter of fact. I'll let you know what I thnk of it if I do...

This is what I do also. I use any oil I have. When I took them down my hair was soft (no added hair). Hth

Thanks ladies. I had thought of making my own but I didn't know if it'd be moisturizing enough. I like for my braids to be crazy moist. I'm hoping to keep my hair in them for about 3-4 months or so (with about 2-3 take downs in-between.)

Thank you! Please do! :yep: I've been eyeballing this but just didn't know how it would work on braids.

Yep I make my own and it changes often. Right now I have a spray bottle with: water, a drop or two of Nexxus Humectress, Rose Water, EVOO, Jojoba oil...that's all I think.

I juat found out that the Walgreens by my house is going to start stocking both Taliah Waajid and Shea Moisture so I'm going to try out the mist bodifier in the near future

when i wear braids i do the oyin handmade juices. recommended them to a lot of folks that has success with it also.

I definitely have to agree with Taliah Waajid's Mist bodifier for the braid spray. It cuts the amount of shedding you will typically see when you take out your braids. Plus, I love it because it makes it easier to detangle your hair. With dense hair like mine, I have an AWFUL time trying to detangle my tight curls :perplexed. The mist bodifier helps with this. Good luck!

Whip up your own!
I make it with rose water, evoo, +teatree, but Im sure there are plenty of other recipes around here

I was just about to mention Tea Tree oil. I've used Tea Tree oil mixed with jojoba oil and it soothed my scalp. I like the tingle!

For shine/moisture for the scalp and hair in the braid, I would add an oil like EVOO mentioned above, or maybe even sweet almond oil. Good luck!

I have braids in now. I use water mixed with aloe vera juice and call it a day. I'm creeping on two months now.

The last time I had braids I used Giovanni leave in spray and rubbed a hand towel along my scalp between the braids to refresh them and it really helped. I also used a mix I made of olive oil, tea tree oil, and peppermint oil. It smelled and worked great. People thought I was getting my braids done every two weeks when I really had them in for 8 weeks. hth

Jamaican Mango & Lime Medicated Maximum relief No more itch Gro Spray. Feels heavenly on my scalp. I don't use it for braids actually. I just use it on my scalp and my edges...but as soon as I get braids I'll use it for that too.
