Naturals, I am tired of the wash and go and bun

Well, I am not actively doing these styles on a regular bases, but I plan too. hahaha

But two strand twist and keep them up for a week.

Finger coils, keep up for a couple days.

Some are even doing flat twist in the front and leaving the back out.

Or flat twist in the front and two strand twist in the back.

We just have to take the time to sit down and do our hair and these styles seem to last for about a week or more for some.

How about applying a good leave-in or a conditioner as a leave in and letting it air-dry out like Tracee in your avatar? :)

My favorite natural styles (in order of how I'm trying them once I BC):
1. Scarf/headband curly (or shrunken) afro
2. Two strand twist for a few days, then the twist out for a few days (other variations of the twists are to make them into a bun, ponytail or secure with a bear claw. Same with the twist out).
3. Flat twist half way then leave the back out in a curly (shrunken) afro
4. Braid out gives a different look than a twist out, as does a bantu knot out.

I think I am going to have to give the Bantu Knot a try. If I try it this weekend I will post pics. I just need a change.

I saw your album and your afro is tight! I am getting bored too with all these twists but I am determined to stick with my protective style challenge! I wish my hair was longer so that I could actually DO something with these twists...patience, patience, patience!

I got tired of the wash and wear deal too. I would sport a twa... my hair is too short to put in a bun...

So I've opt to wear two strand twists!!! I love this style! I'm on the protective style challenge too like naturallady!

I am taking a break from putting two strand twist in my hair as I type this.

I have some flat twist in the front and I am putting in two strand twist in the back. Its crazy to see how much shrinkage can fool you into thinking your hair hasn't grown.

I need to put put some pics of this in my siggy when I am done.

I've seen some women wearing about 8 flat twists going straight back. You can twirl the ends around your finger or put perm rods on the ends to make them curly.

I'm not natural, but after 2 underprocessed relaxers and stretching 34 weeks, I have close to 5" of "natural"/underprocessed hair. I've also been wearing wash and go buns, because I don't want to put heat in it. I don't know how to do bantu knots (I know how to do them, but I can't braid or twist my own hair where it gets close to root). Can someone give tips? Thanks, do tell!

I can't bun yet. I do rock a mean curly afro puff and afro. I will be getting cornrows this weekend so I can rock hats for a few weeks. I sure miss my hats:look: . My hair is really healthy with no split ends or breakage now that I am natural. This month makes a year anniversary of the Big Chop. I guess I will take pics and update my fotki on the 28th.:p

Congrats on the anniversary! I want to see pics!

I usually wash my hair and when I get out of the shower I run regular conditioner (Pantene R&N) mixed with Proclaim natural 7 oil through my hair with my fingers- just enough to get a good distribution, pull the hair back into a ponytail. Lately, I have taken the length of the tail up into a claw and let my curls pop out the top of it.
The End. Simple enough.

I just realized its coming up. I will start taking pics w/different styles/looks and have them downloaded in my album by my anniversary date. I am getting excited now! I love my natural hair and haven't had thoughts about chemicals or heat in months of Sundays. I cannot wait til it I get that huge floppy afro cuz then I am going to try all types of styles. This natural thing is just so easy and simple. I am going to the one hour photo this weekend to start it off.
