How long does it take your hair to AIR DRY?

Is it a good sign or a problem that my hair takes forever to air dry?

I washed this morning and my loose, natural hair is still damp 5 HOURS later!

sounds normal. it takes longer to dry in the winter than the summer. also products (gels, leave-ins, and butters) can increase your hair drying time.

When I rinse my hair in the morning it's usually still damp by time I get home from work and take this wig off. I didn't answer the poll because my hair is wet more than 6 hours but definitely less than 24.

Yep I would say from 6-10 hours at least. If I have my hair in a protective style under a wig, or with additional hair I never know when it finishes drying. I have found my hair holds water.

A looooooong time...I can't even say exactly because it's been so long since I've airdried. I can't stand wet hair.

It depends on how I'm wearing it. If I co-wash in the morning and then bun it up, it will still be damp when I get home at night (10-12 hours later). But if I co-wash and then wear it out in a wash-n-go, it will only take about 3-5 hours to dry.

If my hair is braided (as it always is when airdrying) it can take up to 12-18 hours, easy, for it to be dry all the way through. If I braid it up with conditioner in it, and then rinse it - over 24 hours. My hair likes being moist, so I don't consider it a bad thing, at all, as long as it does dry out fully at some point before getting wet again.
I think having constantly damp/moist hair - esp. in braids - might be a bad thing, over the long run. :perplexed

If you have products in it like gel it will take longer to dry. If I wash mine in the am with products it's usually dry by early afternoon.

I washed my hair this morning, about 8. Its now 2:30 and my hair is still damp. I have it in a loose ponytail.

It takes a while, depending on if I leave a product on it or not. I usually use a product before it dries so I think that may have something to do with my long drying time. I usually wash, then go to sleep and the next morning my hair is still damp...so yea...a while.

I washed the other day around 8:30 a.m. and put my hair in a ponytail (which was pinned up). Most of my hair was dry by around noon but the pinned up part was still damp around 7 p.m.

mine depends...if I leave it out to air dry it will take about 10-12 hours but if my hair is in a ponytail or braids it will take no less than 24 hours usually around 30-36hrs my hair holds water like the hoover dam

If it's out loose to air dry with no product maybe around 2 or 3 hours.
If it's banded, braided, up in bun or otherwise confined then it's much, much longer. It depends on the weather and what way I have it up, but I've known it to take 30 hours at the greatest.

I chose 3-6 hours, but it really depends on the products that I have in my hair and how many twists it is in to dry. The more product the longer it takes so I could have chosen 6-24 hours.:nono:

Yep, that's me! really that next afternoon, still damp on the ends

hmm, I just checked and parts of my hair are still damp from this morning.

I perform a daily co-wash. Generally when I exit the shower, I take a towel and squeeze some of the water out but I don't agitate my hair. Following that, I'll add some aloe vera gel and seal with castor oil...and my hair is still damp.

No worries for me though. :lick:

Thanks Ladies!

Now I know that I'm not alone with slow dryong hair! :yep: I wanted to feel my hair freshly washed- loose, DRY and nude (no products) just to access its true condition, but it was still damp 8 hour later.

So, I just gave up and applied some leave-in befroe braiding it up!

It takes forever! I chose 6-24 hours, and I'm on the high end of that one. Doesn't matter with or without product, loose or twisted/braided. It's always been that way. :drunk:

It really depends on what I put in my hair and how much water I was able to get it out with a towel/t-shirt. It also depends on the whether.

It takes my hair a loooong time to air dry; more than a day. I never air dry my hair while it is loose.
