I wanna wear them, but they always pop. Can you show pics of yourself in them? I don't want to wear it vertically, but horizontally.

The only time I even tried to get a banana clip in my hair was when I tried to flat iron and failed

i dont like the way the pull my hair when its in its naturally curly state so i dont wear them then. i mostly wear them with straightened hair. sorry. if there was a way i can get around that tugging feeling i would try them again.

I've worn them both ways. I usually wear a hump in the front and banana clip in the back. I wear I puff horizontally. Sorry no pics but my hair is thin so they don't pop easily.

I usually only wear it vertically. But when I am wearing with my natural hair, my hair is usually wet when I put the clip on. there's no way I could do with dry puffy/fro'd out hair. Sorry, no pics.

I don't have any pics, but I wear mine vertically and horizontally. I got the idea from Kimmaytube, since I didn't think that my hair would hold in one.

The only one's that work for me are the goody brand and I use them on stretched hair or individual braids or twists.

They stay in good!

Giiiiirrrl, my hair is too dense for a banana clip. Every time I try to put one, I may get it closed but then its like a ticking time bomb and that thing is liable to pop out, fly across the room and take one of kids' eyes out. LOL!

I used to wear them many years ago (in the 80s), but I also remember that they used to break all the time... :wallbash:

It's a delicate balance of pulling your hair tight, but not too tight and distributing the hair evenly within the clip so that it doesn't get too thick in there.

Sorry, I don't have any pics.

I haven't had much success with wearing the clip horizontally (although I do want to learn). Here is just a picture of me wearing it to work vertically.

lol...mine popped when i did a twist out last week but when i spoke with the guy at the BSS about the quality of them he told me i had grabbed a pack of kids clips...:giggle:

Sorry, I can't help Pook. When I was younger I use to wear them, two of them actually. I can't get all of my hair into just one....

it just will. not. work. on my unstraightened hair. and i don't even consider my hair to be all that dense!
Maybe I need one of better quality but mine barely fits around my rollersets. :nono:

happy you started this thread. I asked Poohbear about a pic she posted on here with a banana clip, I just haven't been able to get it to work for me. They also kinda hurt on my edges because I have to make em so tight and they end up breaking anyway. I'll keep an eye on this thread for ideas

yeah ive been searching myself for a long/sturdy clip...since i have thick/dense hair..

nothing worse than having your clip break at the worse moment...of your day smdh

I have one of the fat ones from Ulta. I think they are actually called fish clips. I have to put it in while my hair is soaking wet in the shower. I put my hair in a regular ponytail then put the clip in underneath. I add product to the ends and gell down the front. My hair doesn't dry well while in the clip so I take it out at night to airdry and put the clip back in a few hours later. It's easier to get it back in since it sorta keeps it's shape.

I'm wearing mine today! :yep: It's one of my favorite styles!

Usually, I start by slicking all of my edges down with gel and making a little pony tail at the back of my head the night before I'm going to wear the clip. I'll even band the ponytail sometimes to stretch the hair some. Then, in the morning I'll just put the banana clip on around the ponytail, take off the ouchless bands and fluff my hair out as seen in the pictures. It works pretty well and I've yet to pop my trusty banana clips! I have two really cheap ones that work surprisingly well!

HTH!

No way, no how, not now, not evah!

There are somethings this mane I call thickalicious just will not tolerate and banana clips are on the "no wear" zone.

Or I will pay for it dearly by either being popped from trying to stretch it to fit or by having hair coming out with the clip.

It won't let me posts my pics. Hmm.

I will try layer but usually I only wear them on twists or braids. I tried one time on loose hair and it held up, but looked raggedy lol!

I use Goody banana clips I got @ Wally World. They're thicker than the ones I used to wear as a kid. I like em though.

I don't have a pic but I usually just grab my hair as if I'm going to put it in a ponytail and it works just fine.

Depends on the state of my hair, if I do it for a WnG, it has to be put in when my hair is detangled and wet. I wore it with a braidout yesterday. I can't do it on a dry WnG, but any other time works so long as my hair has been somewhat "tamed".ETA: I don't have a lot of hair right now, and there is a banana clip in there, I promise.:look:

i love the look of banana clips. i tried to wear some cheap ones but they kept breaking. I see some with just as thick and thicker hair using them in this and the other thread, so i may try this again with stronger/better clips.

even if i cant pull it off myself, i will buy some banana clips anyways for my dd.
