Today I shampoo'd my hair and conditioned it. I usually detangle it w/ VO5 conditioner-the champagne one. When I looked at my hair in the mirror I wanted to cry! All I saw was a frizzy mess. My hair is healthy and growing but I just don't like it anymore. I'm a 4a/b-when I was relaxed I had Oprah type hair. I just don't find it manageable for me at all. I dumped half the bottle of conditioner on my head in frustration--comb outs get me down and as a result I shampoo less than I should. I also use braids quite a bit because they're easier and I'm getting ready to have a weave done. Has anyone else gone through this?!!!

YES
I have had those frustrations. And still do. The truth is that you have to decide what is best for you.If you think you might regret relaxing then wait a bit to make a decision. If you are cool with relaxing: jump right in . Especially if it will make YOU happier with your appearance. Maybe a happy medium is best for you. There are many beautiful texlaxed etc. ladies on the board.Good Luck!

I feel u ..when i was natural what got only my nerves was skinkage and frizz.. I cant stand skinkage to save my life.. :whyme:

This board is proof u can have healthy growing natural, relaxed, texlaxed, texurized hair as long as u are up on ur hair game....I say give it a couple more months to see what u realy wanna do, Maybe try different product on ur natural hair and if u still arent happy then relax.

But u have support here whatever u choose :yep:

Yup do what's right for you. This site shows hair can be healthy in all forms. I got the urge to relax but i wont just out of spite:blush:!

I have gone through that same thing many times, and probably every other natural sister on here has, too! When natural hair gets frustrating, it
sometimes means it's time to change your routine. "Can't deal with the comb out" might mean you need a different conditioner. Frizz - might need a new nighttime regime, or a different comb/brush.

Try waiting awhile, change things up a bit, and then decide.

I'm about 13 weeks into a stretch and I just can't bring myself to put a relaxer in. HOWEVER I have definitely been slipping on my washes just b/c the detangling process is heartbreaking and I hate seeing my puffy curled up roots with my limp looking relaxed ends staring back at me. They look like a strong wind would blow them right off sometimes. I've tried flat ironing once or twice but I get so frustrated I usually quit. I don't know if I'm transitioning or texlaxing, but I gotta figure it out SOON. :wallbash:

I so appreciate every one of your responses. I've been thinking about what I would do with my hair for quite awhile now. I'm constantly wearing braids or a weave at this point because I just don't like all of the tangles and everything that goes with my hair type. At this point I'm more drawn to straighter hair-- which means I will probably at least texturize my hair. I don't want it to be bone straight either though. I know 'm being picky but I need more versatiliy for myself. I will hang on a little longer because I need to DEEP condition it before I do anything else:) I'm also going to try those Qhemet Biologics samples I have!! I'm going to mull it over even though I'm leaning toward chemical alteration.
