I was a lurker for a minute then I joined and went mia..lol but know that I've been watching yall (stalkerish much?) Anywho..I have been debating on whether or not to go natural for months and months. I kept on changing my mind..but now I'm gonna do it!!!!! My mom has been natural for a few years now..her hair is gorgeous and quite long, but you can't tell because her curl pattern is so tight. She always wears it in a ponytail because she has no idea what else to do with it. I love my natural texture!! I think I'm finally ready to go for it. It's going to be a struggle though because my hair is thick and puffy and sucks up moisture like a sponge. I'm going to have to get braids or something to help me out..I'm scared yall..I hope I don't give in to the creamy crack. Help meeeeee:wallbash:

WELCOME! You'll be ok. Throw some braids in and let it grow while you get over being natural. Before you know it, you'll be rocking puffs! Just take your time, it's your head!

Thanks honey! I'm gonna give it my best. I don't let just anyone braid my hair though..I've grown quite fond of my edges and I'm tender headed as they say. This is a huge step for me. If anyone has any other suggestions for styles besides braids or sew-ins while I transition or any tips for transitioning safely please let me know.

right now i am transitioning as well...this month marks one year since my last relaxer. i like to mask my textures as well...currently my hair is flat-ironed so i can't see where my curls end and i am experimenting with rollersets to stretch my hair when i want a straight look with less heat. i am a fan of dominican blowouts too but my scalp is not (lol) but if you wanna go the no-heat route you can do twistouts, braidouts, bantu knots (my current favorite) or two-strand twists, which i will be trying next. good luck with your transition!

ETA: let us know your texture, current length, regimen, all that good stuff!

Thanks for the info miss :) I already bantu knot which i like alot as well. I may try twist outs too..I'm lazy though..lol Some style options I have are kinky twists, phony ponies, and a sewn in feathered bob. Unfortunately that all costs money which for me is very hard to come by..:( I'ma work with what I have I guess...maybe start stripping for hairdos..i dunno

kidding..
