I been wearing a wig for a couple of years and I been trying twistes, twist out and I can't seem to do it right:nono:.
What could I do help moisturize and to define the curl?

Can you tell me what works for you with your hair natural? What steps do you use with this product?

Here are some pics of me with my hair out:

What a mess!

Thanks for all your help

I am in a similar situation... I have no styling skills at all. That's pretty much why I still wear my wig despite the   comments I get about it. I just don't really know how to style it, so I cornrow it down and put a wig back on.

I'll be watching to see any tips you get in this thread, they might help me too!

Tell us, step by step, what you are doing now. Are you starting on wet or dry hair? What products are you using? How many twists are you doing?

I find my best twistouts to be one of two ways:
*On wet hair: add leave-in, do five flat twists, leave in till hair is dry (usually overnight).
*On dry hair: soak in conditioner, do five flat twists, leave in till hair is dry (usually overnight).

Your hair just looks dry to me, which is why the curls are undefined...do you deep condition?

Yeah, I had a similar situation exactly a year ago. I had been wearing micro braids for 2years straight and had no idea what to do when coming out of them. It has taken me about this whole year to really get the hang of it, but the things that really helped me are:

Moisture
1) Pure unrefined shea butter (the thick chunky yellow stuff you may find at the beauty store). I made a mistake and bought my first batch which never really worked right.

2) Elast QP Mango Butter (or any hair butter product that does not have mineral oil or petroleum/petrolatum)

3) Extra virgin unrefined coconut oil. It took me about 6months to learn that I need to mix my coconut oil with the shea butter and or mango butter for the ultimate moisture mix! It's like using jehri curl juice, but w/out the mineral oil or petrolatum! The coconout oil is too thin for me to use alone on my 4b hair.

4) 100% pure jojoba oil for lighter coverage. Can also be mixed with the shea/mango butter!

Twisting:
Saturate your hair w/the butters twist by twist right after you blowdry each section. Leaeve the twists in at least a couple of days if you want the twistout to last a couple of weeks.

Trial/Error:

You have to keep the wig/extensions off altogether- and consistently try different styles or else you will never get used to wearing your hair. As it grows and the styles progress, u will get more used to it. My twistout today looks totally different than it did a year ago. I shall do a comparison pic or journey update sometime soon!

I have tried twist on dry & wet hair. I have tried the raw unrefined shea butter & Extra virgin unrefined coconut oil I also use different moisturizing conditioner I put the conditioners in 4 about 1/2 hour.

Thanks 4 your help everyone.

I would start with Kinky Curly Custard and the leave in to define your curls and then you can figure out how to style it. When I just started learning how to style my hair, I spent a lot of time trying to define the curls and neglecting the actual styling e.g. pinning up the side or using pretty clips.
