Before I run out to by Briogeo Avocado + Kiwi moisture DC mask, I need to just check in with you guys on other brands I might be sleeping on.

I know there's so many brands that I haven't gotten around to checking out, this thread will be very useful in helping me to whittle down the ones I could try out (hopefully).

If you have a suggestion for an amazingly moisturising DC, with no nasties and great slip, drop it in here.

SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque

Texture ID Deep Treatment Masque

Lador Hydro LPP Treatment

The Mane Choice Heavenly Halo Herbal Hair Tonic & Soy Milk Deep Hydration Mask
(original formula)
This was one my all time favorite drug store conditioners before the formula changed. Now I believe there’s cones in it & the nice oils have moved farther down the ingredient list. But if you can find the original formula grab it.

I was just on the Superdrug website adding some shower gels to my basket, I had 16 items in there  including the SheaMoisture mask you mentioned, and their coconut hibiscus range. I deleted the coconut and hibiscus products, that just makes no sense in reality, as my hair doesn’t like anything coconut, except for the smell. I moved the moisture mask to my save for later items, I've been wanting to try this for a couple of months now.

I get a bit apprehensive when I see moisture DC's with ingredients that make me think protein, I know honey is a humectant, but it does contain some protein. I was checking out the Briogeo Avocado and kiwi mask, Avocado makes me think protein (even though I love the oil ). The list of ingredients have lots in there for moisture though.

There was another range (Monday) in my basket, I had the clarifying shampoo, moisture conditioner and moisture DC mask in there. The price was cheap but, I didn't like the ingredients so I removed them.

My goals for the products I intend to buy, is to lock down the following:

Shampoo: 2 x Clarifying 1 x Moisture I have one left to try, then this should be complete.

Rinse out conditioner: There are a good few that have worked well for me. I'd say this is a case of revisiting them and whittling it down to hopefully 5-6 including moisture and protein/smoothing, these will mainly be used for cowashing.

Moisture DC: 1 x cheap, 1 x mid price, and a HG, I don't mind if the HG is expensive, it will be used in rotation with the other two. I think I have the cheap one locked down, again I need to revisit to make sure that it's still works as well for me now. Hopefully, the SheaMoisture will be a hit and will be the mid price DC and then I have some higher priced DCs that I want to try, and hopefully, I will find my HG DC

Protein: I will use Aphogee products to add it in as and when it's needed.

Right now I've been loving the silicon mix coconut oil nourishing hair mask. That's a fairly new (less than year) addition for me but I've liked the argan oil one for a long time. I get 60oz for $21 at a beauty supply store near me.

It might have lots of "nasties" I don't know what that means but it works really well for me.
When I refer to nasties, I'm talking about silicones, parabens, sulphates etc. I have one DC that has cones in it, they are not the worst ones, and the conditioner really does it's job well. The Aphogee 2 minute is another conditioner that has cones, but also works well for my hair. Outside of these two products, I'd like to stick to ones without.

I think silicon mix is actually available over here now, I need to look into it. I remember years ago, a lot of ladies on the board had very good things to say about it, but I couldn't get it over here, so never bothered to delve into it.

Texture ID Deep Treatment Masque, is not readily available here, so actually cost as much as the Briogeo as it's imported.

The Ladore Hydra looks like a good contender, I like that it's has silk proteins in it and it's cone free. Sits within the price bracket I mentioned, it also seems relatively easy to get a hold of over here.

Would you class this as more of a balancing DC or a moisturising DC?

An enjoyable inexpensive DC is the Garnier Banana Hair food (or something like this). It used to be around £4.99 the last time I bought it. I think they’ve had a slight reformulation and the price has increased to around £8.00, the last time I saw it in Superdrug.
I saw a Garnier line in there a few weeks back, seemed to be free of the ingredients I wish to avoid. I went online to try and find it, but I couldn't work out which one it was I saw, there were so many on their website. I keep walking past and forgetting to pop in to check.

Would you say that the banana hair food was a moisture, protein or balancing DC?

It’s definitely moisturising here’s a pic of the old ingredients list image.jpg

I would say it’s moisturizing.

Thank you :) That line up looks good as well. I only asked because of the banana (I see that as a protein for hair), I'm a little protein paranoid, the biggest setbacks I've had, have been due to protein overload, it also hasn't always been obvious where it came from, I am very cautious now.

ETA: Has the ingredients or the packaging changed since you bought your one? I want try this too.

When they say be careful what you ask for.... I'm slipping back into product junkism with ease  I will wait till I see it on offer, getting discounts, makes me feel a lot better about the amount I spend on haircare.

Yes, I mentioned that I believe they’ve reformulated the product since I purchased. Last time I was in there, I took a pic of the new ingredients list but I haven’t tried the new formula. The price keeps increasing though.

I too love a discount lol. Be careful now. We don’t want to lose you down that PJ rabbit hole. There’s always something to buy  .

I now purchase this mask from Sprouts (after having had obtained it from Ulta at first).

Amazing slip. Zero yukkies, and very pointedly so (mask creator is YouTuber Alba Ramos, who is alllllll about nontoxicity).

Weighs hair down if you are heavy-handed, which works for me. Can cause the scalp to tingle, and some people may find it too strong in this regard. I'll never need another mask. G.O.A.T. for me.

I need this thread. It is VERY difficult for me to find low-cost conditioners that I love. Since I rotate natural, straight and stretched styles on a regular basis I have to have high quality to keep my hair up and can't always take the low cost liberties that naturals who are no-low heat can get away with. The last two inexpensive conditioners I Ioved were from Hyroquenech systems and Hairveda... both brands are discontinued now. I'm buying that Naturalle Grow @yaya24 it looks like all the ingredients my hair loves.

I've purchased a couple of travel sized Briogeo Avocado and kiwi mask, after reading through some reviews, I don't feel confident enough to purchase a full sized tub. If I like it, then I will repurchase, if I don't, I won't feel like I wasted money.

Now I'm off to look into some of those conditioners that have been posted

Unfortunately, another one I can't get over here. I would have liked to try this and the naturelle grow conditioners.
