without mineral oil and protein near the top of the ingredients list even though i would prefer ones without the two named ingred. I want to use a light/medium hold gel which doesn't dry or break off hair. I'm searching for one which adds softness and defintion to my hair when i'm wear wet buns etc. Thanks in advance.

I like the smooth n shine curl activator gel for normal hair. I put it or Suave's frizz control when I do my wet buns after I put on my leave ins. Both work great and leave a good shine. My hair is still soft but it keeps the little fly aways at bay. I've been using the smooth n shine when I do my wash n gos lately and it works great then, too.

Thanks Tai, i checked out the ingredients in the smooth n shine gel last week, but i was a little concerned as mineral oil was directly at the top of the list. Are you sure, it won't cause dry or hardness?

Fantasia Frizz Buster Gel. /images/graemlins/up.gif Elasta QP Mango Butter is also good for slicking the hair back if it isn't raining or really humid outside (for me anyway...). I like it better as a gel substitute than a moisturizer.

Thanks sassygirl, i'll find out the ingredients of fantasia frizz buster gel. i used to use Elasta QP Mango Butter but it makes my hair go hard and dry after airdrying.

The curl activator gel doesn't have mineral oil. It's the gellation gel in the larger tub that has mineral oil. My hair doesn't like mineral oil at all. It's easy to get the two confused. I'll post the ingredients to the smooth n shine curl activator gel when I get home.

Do you like pomades? My cousin likes the Kids Organics pomade for slicking her hair back for ponytails. I thought it was too greasy and hard to wash out. /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif The main ingredients are vegetable oil, lanolin, soybean oil, parafin wax and microcrystalline wax. The rest of the list consists of a bunch of natural oils and egg and milk protein.

Thanks, but I'm not really a lover of pomades, my mother used them on my hair as a child, they're too greasy and waxy for my liking lol.

HIZA is this the one....Hiza, I have two questions though, do i have to blow my hair straight for it to work, and have you applied it to wet hair before? Thanks

Wella SP Straightaway provides frizzy curly hair with a temporary straightening effect, without overloading. The exclusive formula with Nanoreflectors transforms light into radiant shine. A special combination of flexible polymers and Vitamin E protects the hair from environmental influences, UV rays and heated styling equipment.
Instructions for Use:
Apply a sufficient amount onto towel dried hair and work evenly through lengths and ends. Blow dry hair straight with a suitable brush.

Yes this is the one,I love this product!
No you don’t have to straight the hair at all, I use it in wet hair, dryer hair. This product will do the work anyway.

I don't have any reccomendations - but I just looked at your album! All I can say is WOW - you have the most perfect hair I have ever seen. I would sell my left big toe for those curls!!!
I'm about to stalk you on the board to get all your secrets, girl! /images/graemlins/wink.gif
And Im going to take your advice about doing a corrective texturizer and ditching the Affirm fiberguard for regular Affirm. Im just trying to decide whether to use mild or regular.
And to think that Affirm regular is easier to find. I had to order the fiberguard online! /images/graemlins/shocked.gif But we live and we learn.

Thanks girl, do some strands test first though to get the textures you desire. I did my corrective with mild, to be on the safe side because the hair has already been processed. however i will be switching to regular strength for touch-ups, i have to leave the mild on for 30 plus mintutes to get the texture i want and i would always suffer burns, so i think its better for me to stick with regular. Good luck. PM anytime if you need anymore advice, can't wait see your results /images/graemlins/grin.gif.
