My Vanessa La Jay Half Wig (with pics)

After reading all the rave reviews about this piece, I had to try it and am so happy I did! Long story short, I really liked it once I figured out what to do with the hair in the front. Here are some pictures.

The back:

I trimmed a bit

I pinned my hair back with bobby pins. I'm trying not to put a lot of stress on my edges.

I know, it looks terrible (to me) on the model, but the reviews were so good I went ahead and ordered it.

It looks really good on you! I've seen several pics of the wig on here and it looks really nice and natural. The curls look like soft 4a/3c kinky hair. But when I googled the wig and looked on YT, it looks a HAM...3/A/3B hard-looking, plastic Barbie hair. I feel like if I gave it and bought yet another wig I would look a mess.

Can i ask, where on the wig did you trim the hair and were you wearing it whilst trimming?

Bublin I did not trim it while I was wearing it, I was afraid I'd cut some of my own hair haha. I just held it away from me with a fist on the inside as if it were being worn. I tried to cut it in a rounder shape and also so that the back wouldn't go past my shoulders. So, I only trimmed on the ends. I thought about thinning in out but I was convinced I would destroy it.

I did end up trimming a few spots that were sticking out crazily after I put the wig on but it was down at the bottom, far away from my hair at the top.

That was very helpful. I have destroyed wigs in the past trying to thin them and out when what i should have done is make them shorter.

(fyi a good way to trim wigs is to get some thinning shears. that way you can take down the density without chopping it up too much)

to the bolded ---- no. i really only wear curly wigs so i think the thinning shears are easier to use because the curly wigs are usually so dense that they are very forgiving. (if you know what i mean?) keep in mind you really don't have to take out much to make a big difference in a wig. i start in the middle and trim right to left. just one or two snips can make a big difference in how natural a wig looks.
