Your hair is gorgeous and your progress is amazing! How long have you been natural and how long did you transition?

Thanks!!!

My nape twists are skimming shoulder length lol, thats about it. The bang twists, when stretched out, come to the bottom of my bottom lip.

I transitioned for 4 months, bc'ed, then put in extension braids aqnd wore that style for a little over a year. I got tired of the extensions and begain twisting my own hair and rocking this style since mid July 09.

I have been natural since February 08.

So basically this is my everyday hairstyle. It is so easy, simple, low-maintenance.

I wash my hair in the twists about every 4-5 weeks :look: so yea, im basically one of those who do not shampoo often at all. I wash them with trader joes nourishspa or creme of nature.... depending whats closest to me in the bathroom, lol. Then i slather conditioner on them (RN deep conditioning mask or lekair cholesterol), cover with a plastic cap, and either sit under my hood dryer or lounge around for the day. Sometimes after i shampoo the twists ill throw a scarf on, run downstairs to the dominican hair salon, and have them put their conditioner on and sit under their steamer for 15-20 minutes.

Then i rinse the conditioner out and proceed to retwist every twist on my head. I take one twist down, comb the hair, then spray the section of hair with a mixture of infusium 23 and water to dilute (more water than infusium) and then apply garnier fructis sleek and shine creme leave in on the hair then twist. Honestly any creme will do...I have used a creme/lotion by organics before and i have even used a petroleum-laden grease and the twists come out fine. In my case what makes the twists look plump and moisturized is twisting while wet.

Every 2-3 months, i take down all of the twists and actually shampoo my loose hair...this is when i typically take my puff comparison pics. Because the twists are my staple style (and a great potective one), i always retwist the loose hair back up and start the cylce all over again.

Daily /weekly upkeep:
Each night i tie my head down with a scarf, but not so tight so as to flatten the twists. In the morning i shake my twists and spritz them with water...sometimes after this step ill apply some carrot oil to the twists, sometimes not. THATS IT.

Weekly i "cleanse" my scalp with witch hazel. I put the witch hazel on a cottonball/cotton round and swipe between my partings.

Every 2 weeks i retwist ONLY the twists around my sidepart (maybe about 10-12 twists).

It takes me 5-6 hours to twists my whole head, so this is a reason why i choose to leave them in for so long (4-5 weeks)...But the cool thing about this style is that generally the older it gets the fuller/better it looks imo.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the detailed regimen posting, it helps tremendously. It's not that far off of what I used to do myself. However, I'm going to adopt your method of washing and conditioning my hair while in twists and redo one at a time. That will truly be a time saver. Thanks so much Jennboo
