The pressing comb. Just a small patch melted this morining. I have never done that before. My hair no matter what I do will not press straight-it just frizzes. Even though my doc says not to relax my hair I really want to...I realized I like my hair better straight. My hair is very hard to braid anthing other than cornrows slip and cornrows only last 8 days max. I can't afford to have my hair rebraided every 8 days the last time I did this I was working two jobs. I was thinking of using a motions mild-i used to self relax with it/optimum care-this is the kind I was using when I trasitioned 3 yrs ago or Elucence gentile.

One thing I realized about my natural hair is that wash and wear doesn't work long term. I don't want to wear dreads even though my brother, cousin, and nephews have beautiful ones. I want to play in my hair too much. The weaves were getting to hot and my hair wont stay plaited to wear a quick weave and then remove it. I can't do two strand twist or braid outs well.....My hair is moist at times and dry more so than ususal at other times...I think I have made up my mind that I just can't care for my hair natural.

Why can't you relax? are you having health problems? Have you tried a wrap? Or a gelled down type of finger wave style?

My doctor told me that because of the large amount of prescriptions I was taking, it would be best not to relax my hair and I wanted to wear my hair natural anyway just to see it again. In order for my hair to lay down it has to be pressed or relaxed. I didn't know you could wrap natural hair.

If your doctor tells you to leave the relaxers alone I think you should follow his orders. Textured hair is much better than no hair at all! I think that you should just learn how to work with your natural hair texture for easier styling & maybe wear it straight every once in a while, but hey that's just my opinion.

You are not giving yourself much flexibility. Listen to yourself:
Pressing comb – Your hair melted & your hair won’t stay straight
Relaxers – Your doctor says that it’s not a good idea.
Wearing your natural texture – you like your hair better straight, Natural hair does not work for the long term, Natural hair is not wash and wear.
Braids – your hair is too hard to braid
Cornrows – Only last 8 days & you can’t afford to pay to have your hair re-braided every 8 days.
Texturizing – You are considering using a motions mild AGAINST your doctors orders.
Weaves – It's too hot for weaves
Dreads – don’t want them
Quick weaves – hair won’t stay plaited to wear a quick weave then remove it
Two-strand twist – you can’t do them very well
Braid outs – you can’t do them very well

You have already decided that the above options don't work for you.
It seems like the only style left is to shave your head bald

I wish I could help you sis, but I don’t know where to start. You seem very fixated on relaxing your hair against your doctor’s orders.

In my mind you basically only have 3 choices:
Choice 1 – Learn to wear your hair in its natural state.
Choice 2 – Wear your natural hair straight (this option is do-able, but you could risk heat damage)
Choice 3 – Go back to relaxing (against your doctor’s orders) (with the medication you are taking, lord knows how your hair is going to turn out with this option)

I am not trying to push my natural hair views onto you so please don't take it that way. I think you should do whatever you want to do. It’s your hair, but none of us can help you if you have your mind made up that nothing is going to work for you, accept relaxing again.

Have you tried getting a dominican blowout? My friend who is natural does this every week and wraps her hair nightly to keep it straight. This will work. Also what do you mean by your wash and wear does not last? Are you trying to get it to last more than one day? If at least the people that I know and when I used to do a wash and wear, you have to wash it everyday to look good. You can't have a wash and wear and try and keep it for more than a day. It won't work

You make since....I think I am having "Hair Fit". It makes a lot of since when someonelse types what you say. I was going to wash my fried puff ball tonight and "try" rollersetting.

I was gong to try to blow out. I just found out that there is a domincan salon here. No one I ask can tell me where it is.

wash and wear doesn't last all day. I have to keep it wet all day or it dries really hard. (This has been going on for 2-3 weeks).

I wouldn't do a blow out after you've just burne dyour hair with the pressing comb- I think you need to give your hair some TLC and accept it for what it is now.

okay. I will just wash with Elucence, deep condition with ORS Mayo, and use some Elucence condt as a leave in. Does anyone think its okay to use Surge on the burned hair. I cover the spot well. I have a "bunny rabbit" ponytail.

On the plus side I got an inch of gorwth while I was in the weave.

Yes, part of my hair burned and"melted together" it looked like a black slick stuff with a puff on the end.

Auntybe, I'm sorry to hear about your "hair" dilemma.

Maybe after some extra TLC, you can try flat ironing your hair. This may not give you the super straigtness of pressing, but the ceramic flat iron should help prevent heat damage and give you some desired straightness.

1. air dry or blow dry with comb attachment to help straighten
2. use ceramic iron
3. wrap your hair then tie with satin scarf to help smooth and flatten

Don't worry. You'll figure it out.

It could be the products. I use Feels like Silk on mine. I wear a wear and go one day and puffs the next day sometimes 2 days, then I wear twists 1 or 2 days then I wash or con wash the next day.
