for my touch up. She said since my tresses are colored, I need to get a touch up ever six weeks. She says waiting a long time between touch ups causes my hair to break.

Well you know you hair too. If you haven't noticed breakage you should be ok. Figure out how much less she would be making if you go from 8 to 5 relaxers in a year

do you agree with her? it doesn't matter what she thinks. it only matters what your hair tells you...

I did notice breakage around the roots. Maybe 10 weeks is too long for my hair. She also told me I need to sit under a dryer with conditioner.

I would think the exact opposite of what she advised you. I think that when you color you should extend your relaxer because the risk of overlap is too much. I think maybe 10 weeks may have been too much for you because you saw breakage, maybe you should try 8 weeks next time.

Very true.

But, it all depends on the hair. I sport color and once I go past the 8 week mark, combing is a challenge, and I lose more hair in comb-outs. To me, it's not worth it. If I have sufficient newgrowth, I'm going to get a perm. There's no point in stretching it out, because handling those two textures can be something annoying.
