And it's been a year and a month since I bought it, so I'm passed the one year warranty.

I'm sad.

At least I have an excuse to go flat iron shopping.

Ok, I'm on the same boat. My Sedu just broke two weeks ago and I'm also past the warranty. I'm about to try and get somebody to fix this though.

I Solia broke a few months ago too. Just would not power on. I was still under warranty, but still! I got another one about a month ago and honestly, I am wondering when this one will stop working. :perplexed

Just being honest here...

But I rarely expect electrical hair appliances, especially those that heat up to a super hot level or have moving parts to last more than 1 or 2 years.

I expect that with normal wear and tear, this just happens.

I agree. i have replaced several irons over the years. But, my last one broke after a few months and I had only used it about 4 times. :wallbash: I sent that mess back! That's why I keep backup. :yep:

Yeah I have 3 flat irons. A 1 inch, a 2.5 inch, and a curved plate one.

I alternate depending on my needs. And I get good deals at Sally's so I typically sell the free blowdryer or hot curlers that I get with them on Ebay.

They just break.

Unless you are doing it G-ma style with the big iron hot comb in the gas stove flame... expect regular replacements.

what exactly is it that broke? i just returned my sedu for a solia, and i hope i didn't make the wrong decision! if i don't like it, i'm getting the sedu 2008!

I was expecting this thing to last me for the rest of my life  But I guess you're right. It was bound to happen.

I'm just mad that it didn't happen a month ago so I could've gotten a free replacement.

The plate fell out. I'm eyeballing the Sedu as well.

This is for Soilaisha :alcoholicI know she was ya homie

 thanks girl

Are you wrapping the cord around the iron? Doing this causes a lot of the problems with appliances not turning on. I have had my Chi for over 2 years now and I have not problems with it -- I never wrapped the cord around. All of my other flat irons clonked out on me and I always wrapped the cord around. When I get done using my iron, I fold the cord (the way they do it in the box).

I'm so sorry to hear that your solia broke. I've had mine for over 3 years and it still works just as good as the first day that I bought it. I would die if something happened to it.

If you want to get another one, folica.com is one of the best (and one of the cheapest) places to buy them or any of the other really good flat irons. The shipping is really really quick too. You'd have another flat iron before you know it! :yep:
