I have a book of called alternative cures and it has a list of vitamins that they recommend. I've been on them vitamins for a while and havent notice any improvement of my scalp. But my question is do i need another brand of my vitamins. I drink Taco bell cup full of water. lol you know them big cups you get with a meal we save those. You know how us black folks do. anywho i drink about 4 or 5 of them i know thats got to be over 64 ounces a day. What the deal?

Didn't someone say you trim your hair everyday? That would be the problem.

Yung, maybe you need to take enzymes too. Someone else once said that if you aren't taking "time-released" pills, they should dissolve easily in a glass of water. Try that and see if they do. If they don't, it means they may not be getting absorbed into your blood and so aren't reaching where they should. "Time-released" pills aren't supposed to be quick dissolving so don't worry if those don't. Alternatively, maybe you could take capsules instead of actual tablets or take a powder both of which might get assimilated more easily. Take your MSM with Orange Juice so you take it at the same time as Vitamin C since it works best with that.

If your pills don't dissolve easily or just for a boost, get yourself some enzyme tablets and take them with your vits on a full stomach. They might make a difference. Also, do a search for what other people take. There are some brands that seem to work better for some people than others. Maybe you just need to find your perfect match. Or it could be that your body has a lot of catching up and healing to do so you won't see results as quickly as other people have.

I know you know this, but I'll just say it again . . . it takes a good 4-6 months for the hair and scalp to respond to vitamins, even longer for some people. That's why more reputable vitamin companies say "give us 6 months to show you what we can do." Vitamins need that time to build up into the system to reach that "trigger point."

Which vitamins have you been on for six months or more?

Also, I wonder if you might want to do some research on foods that cancel or reduce the effects of vitamins. For instance, I am taking an iron vitamin. I have to stay away from anything with caffeine in it for at least 1 hour after taking the vitamin (coffee, tea, chocolate.) Also milk effects the absorption of certain vitamins, so does certain medicines like anacids.

I agree with everything that Nonie said. Absorption is the key. Over the weekend, I just ordered some enzymes from Andrew Lessman. Also, I am thinking about doing a detox just to cleanse my system so that the vitamins have a better chance to absorb.

Along with drinking a lot of water, you need to be eating right for the vitamins to work properly. Don't leave out the fruits and veggies young man

lol@soulchild. i thought it took 30-45 days. I havent been on flax longer than three months and i upped it to 4000mg. I'll wait longer like you said and see what happens.

Sounds like a good plan, YuNg.

On my kitchen calendar, I actually mark when I start a particular vitamin. If it is a good quality vitamin I dont give up until I hit that 4 month mark. I make a promise to myself not give up until then. It took that long for my Viviscal to kick in. And oh my goodness. I am so glad I waited it out. My hairline is finally growing back!!!!
