My mom's hair is thinning. Any sugesstions?

Her hair is thinning. If you look at the front of the hair and the crown, you can see more of her scalp. She told me that someone put relaxer in her hair products which is what caused the thinning.

I think her hair is thinning due to age... she's in her mid-60s. any suggestions? Should she see a dermatologist or a trichologist?

She should see a dermatologist. There are multiple causes of hair thinning/loss. A dermatologist can do a biopsy, prescribe medications if necessary, etc.

Definitely see a doctor who's willing to do bloodwork to rule out easy stuff like vitamin D, B-12, low iron or zinc levels. All of those can contribute to hair loss.

See a doctor. I had a similar issue (though I'm not bad your mom's age) and thought it was a styling/product usage. Turns out I had several internal deficiencies that my dermatologist and PCP were able to diagnose.
