My Indigo didn't "take"?

Anyone have issues with indigo not "taking"? I did a Henna last night then immediately did the indigo and left it on for an hour. My hair actually looked lighter than it was before!:wallbash: Today it is a little darker. Do you get that blue/black over a couple days or what? That stuff is too messy to deal with if I'm not gonna be getting the exact results I want.

Indigo should make your hair look darker immediately, but mature over the next 24 hours. I've had two times when it didn't take. The first time I'd sprayed my hair with SAA or oat protein or something that forms a coating. The second time was because my indigo had been exposed to the air for too long. I actually had to throw the rest of it away. HTH

The folks over at Henna for Hair suggest trying Indigo by itself if you really want to get a nice blue-black color. I'm just scurred that my ish will turn blue if used by itself. But, yes, my Indigo took for about 2 days, then faded away.:nono:

Sareca, I absolutely LOVE your color!!! ;)

Thanks :) *whispers* I use indigo by itself. :look:

It may take it two days for the color to settle. But my hair was darker immediately. To the point where I was like .

If you don't have the results you want in two days then you can always redo it. I know it sucks though.

Add lemon juice to the henna the night before to release the color. Add a teaspoon of salt to the indigo/water mixture. Use it immediately. That should do it.

Sorry, hon. This is all such a learning process.

i was told that if you use indigo by itself without henna first it will give u a jeans dipped in moud, look. Is tha true?

So, add salt to the Indigo and Water and DON'T let it sit? That may have been my problem right there. I thought you were supposed to allow it to sit for 15 minutes or so.
