I am on the product challenge now, but I just need a little help with products that I can purchase in Feb. 04. Currently I use all of Cathy Howse's products and my oils, but I would like to try something else. Could someone recommend shampoo, conditioner and stlying products for 4a/b hair.

Thanks alot

My advice would be to focus on moisturizing products. Those have seemed to be the best thing for me since joining! By the by, hopefully you've got a good support group where you are while your husband's away. I know what deployments are like. *hugs*

I have had amazing results from the daily CO washes. This is the best thing I could have done for my hair!

I second that!

Girl if you don't use it already, S-curl is da bomb. That Carol's Daughter HHB is da bomb too! Those two combined together with daily protective styling and the baggie trick have helped me retain a good amount of length in the past five months.

Hi Jellynote
I am currently in Iraq. It is not as bad as the media is making it out to be. Here is a word of advice. Don't watch the news while he is gone. The Media has no consideration for families with loved ones over here. They love to make people worry for a good story. Just stay all prayed up. Your husband is gonna be fine and he will be lovin' that hair when he gets back from Iraq.
P.s. He will make a lot of extra money over here, so you can buy some great products with that extra deployment cash!

Thanks ladies for all the advice! Shana I already know that the media makes it worse ,but my husbands unit isn't all about family like they claim they are

but hey a a military spoue you have to roll with the punches.

We're going to save a lot of money, but your right it'll be a whole lot extra money rolling in for the year he's there.

My hair didn't do to good with the s-curl, but my hair loves the condition washes. I know this is propably a stupid question, but what's the baggie techinque? Ladies thinks for all the hugs this is my 1st deployment so it's tough for me, but hubby has went on few. So I'll just continue to pray I mean I already got family over there so maybe God will put them together

you never know.

Jellynote, I posted this on another thread:

Just think back to the Jheri Curl days when we add lots of moisture to our hair and put a plastic cap on before we went to bed. This is the same technique with the actual Jheri-Curl.
I do this after my hair is freshly washed. I wash my hair daily.

Pull hair into a medium to high ponytail, Don't worry if your ponytail is not long. You just need enough hair it get into one. Plus as you use the technique you will notice increase growth.

I used I slightly varied version than the original but it is equally as effective. After your hair is in a ponytail you add extra moisture(I use S-curl) to the ponytail and seal with either extra virgin live oil or vaseline(that's what I am using).

Take a plastic sandwich bag and put it around the ponytail. Wrap the excess plastic around the ponytail. Secure with a ouchless elastic or scrunchie. Some people put a stocking over the plastice but I don't because my hair is well hidden under my phony pony or bun.

Next add your phony tail or bun and secure. No one will ever know there is a baggie under there unless you tell them! It is your little secret!

First I will like to say my prayers go out to you and your husband. Put all things in the hands of the Almighty. Leave the worry to him!!!!
Hair Advice
Enrich your diet with Omega 3, 6, 9, (Flax seed, Borage, Fish Oil, Cod Liver Oil, b-Complex, Sea kelp, Vitamin C.
Clean your eating habits if you haven't. You will see a change in your hair as well as your figure. (Not saying there is a problem) We must learn to take care of ourselves internally as well to achieve strong, healthy hair.
Try lean proteins such as soy, egg whites, chicken breast, tofu, tuna, salmon.
Eat brown carbs such as oatmeal, wheat germ.
Dark green vegetables, little if any simple carbohydrates.
Sorry no caffeine if you like your Capppachinos, Cokes and Coffee. Eliminate Trans fats and cook with Olive oil, safflower oil (Excellent for the hair), Grapeseed Oil.
Increase your water intake to about 1 1/2 gallon or two.
Try night time oil conditioning treatments for added moisture and softness with castor oil.
I don't often use shampoo but if I do.. my choice would be BreakThru by Soft Sheen Carson ( this will give you strength for less breakage and easy comb through.)
REGIS HYDRATING BALM. This is the best conditioner I have ever used. This will give hair all the emollience it needs.
Try adding an essential oil massage with 5 drops rosemary, 3 drops red Cedarwood, 3 drops Jasmine and for the Carrier oil add 1 0z Jojoa, 1 0z Emu Oil (LOVE IT) and few drops of Avocado oil. Massage into scalp morning and night. And then do a conditioning treatment with the Regis Hydrating Balm under a hooded dryer for 60 mins.
Giovanni Direct stay with a smidge of Aloe Vera is excellent leave in ...as well as Alberto VO5 hair Therapy.

Thanks ladies I really appericate the encouraging words and the hair care advice. My hubby will be so

I've been strong so far just got 1 month to go.

Jellynote,
Where are you at in Germany? I am stationed in Germany too. We will have to have our own little personal hair meeting when I return home in January/February. My husband is coming out here too as I return home. So, I will have one year to grow 6 inches of hair.
