Hi ladies!!

I haven't really been taking good care of my hair recently, I haven't been sleeping with a scarf but I have been sleeping on a silk pillow case but I still find when I wake up my hair is a total mess!! also I don't DC that often, I trimmed the other days and my hair looks quite good but it hasn't grown as much as I would have thought since I joined LHCF in February. Also I have notice when trimming that there is a big step in my hair, I'm not sure if it was always there or if it was from the phoney pony I sometimes where but I don't see who this could have broken my hair, anyway now I need to seriously give me hair some TLC.

I was going to relax my hair tonight as it is due and do a light protein step then DC with ORS replenishing conditioner mixed with virgin Shea butter, coconut oil and olive oil, overnight. I was thinking of DCing overnight with this about 3 times a week for a while, do you think this would be ok or too much?

I think DC 3 X a week is problably too much... You better go with a simple regimen that you'll be able to maintain durably instead of a quick fix too difficult to handle. The products you are planning to use are very good, but at the same time make sure to maintain a good balance between your moisture and protein level. GOOD LUCK and HTH :)

I do not think you have a problem with hair growth...it's with retaining your length. You stated that you have neglected your hair, and this is the culprit. I am glad that you have decided to invest some quality time into your hair. It deserves it.

I think that DC'ing 3x/week is a bit much, and you have the potential to suffer from protein or moisture overload. If you are relaxed, this can definately lead to increased shedding, and breakage.

I am a big fan of keeping it simple. Since joining this forum, I have learned that my hair thrives with washing and DC'ing once weekly. I use a good leave in. Airdry intil 70% dry, then blowdry the rest. I apply a serum, flatiron, wrap at night, and call it a day.

Hope this helps.

i am a fan of 2x/week DCing, but 3x a week made my hair TOO moisturized. im natural, but...how long are your relaxer stretches?
