I noticed yesterday that Cantu shea butter and Fantasia IC gel have benzophenone (=sunscreen) among the ingredients but I've never used them. Maybe a heat protectant would work too?

For the moment, I usually damp bun and coat it with butters when it's very sunny, and sometimes I baggy for an hour or so with aloe juice and coconut oil if it feels stressed out.

I live in Florida I like to use SM Curl smoothie or Elasta AP mango butter when I'm gonna be out in the sun to long or ill baggy under my wig if its too crazy (hot) but eventually when theses products are done on going try using my SD Vanilla Silk or Darcy's Twisting cream for moisture. Hth

I still havnt found a product that keeps my hair moisturized while in the sun (like at the pool or beach) ,y hair always feels dry after even if it was moisturized before.

what I do as I get in though is spritz with aloevera juice and re-moisturize with a creamy leave in like SD mocha silk or purabody murumuru moisture milk

I'm pretty sure paul mitchell has a line with products designed to specifically keep moisture and protect from the sun. I forget what its called.

Those two don't play together nicely (white clumps).

I'd definitely say aloe vera juice/ coconut oil!

I live in hot Arizona. You reminded me that I need to repurchase Silk Dreams Waterfalls Hydrating Spritz. I like to seal with a little oil too.

If you think that the price of Waterfalls Hydrating spritz is too much, I recommend a homemade spray made of beet juice and water (1:6 or 8 ratio). I know it sounds silly but that mess works. Please let me know if you try the homemade spritz.

I second shea butter, locks in your moisturizer IN, I whip mine with ceramide oils. But I find the most effective way to combat sun-induced dryness is to DC more frequently :yep:

I follow up my leave-in with a serum. Most, if not all of them, have that benzophenone ingredient in it which like a previous poster mentioned already, is a sunscreen. I've been using leave-in and serum daily this summer and my hair looks and feels amazing.

My hair is dying from this summer heat too.

New routine:
-- I use a refresher spray every morning (I was slacking). I use the DB herbal leave-in spritz. Honestly I could stand to refresh it during the day before I got out in the sun again.
-- I also had to add more moisturizer when I twist my hair at night. I normally would go a few days before adding more product. Yesterday I even brought out the QB Heavy Cream.

Of course it's raining today so my hair will turn in one big poof lol.
