In three weeks!! WTF is going on....After I did the APhogee (though there was issues) it worked...THen I slowly got little broken hairs in the combs...Now it's like I did nothing!! Its coming out like it was before....I was literally pulling it out from the ends!!!

Did you follow-up with good moisturizers?

BTW, I have found a way for Aphogee to work for me! Their moisturizing conditioner is crap, so I use my beloved Humecto and my hair comes out so supple.

Hi goldensenstaion,

do you mind telling if you use humecto w/or w/o heat and for how long?

Yup...that is y I don't understand...I used their's which I thought was pretty good, AND i used the NTM Deep Recovery Mask....

And that was my first time using an aphogee treatment...

I think my stretching might be working against me...
I stopped relaxers cuz my hair was in such bad shape and I started looking for answers on the net and found u guys among others...

So when I did the Aphogee and it worked, I was like "Ok, I can relax again!" I went abd bought my relaxer and my hair wants to act all crazy again...I just think it might be the reaction to hair that is being stretched??

When I first came to LHCF I was having extreme breakage problems and it took me three months before the breakage stopped. I tried aphogee and emergencee and it continue to break. I found out that protein can make the breakage worse if the problem is bad which mine was so I started moisturizing my hair and the breakage stopped. My hair was dry and overprocess so I needed more moisture. You probably should focus on moisture for a while.

I totally agree, too much protein as well as too much moisture can cause breakage. The moisture & protein in your hair has to be balanced. You should concentrate on moisture, moisture, moisture. Also, if your leave-in/moisturizers also have protein and you've done a heavy protein treatment, you're suffering from a protein overload and need to now concentrate on adding the moisture balance back to your hair.

Ok, do you ladies have any recs for moisturizers sans protein??

I have some Mango Butter (I'm not too crazy about it, so I haven't used much of it, but it has a lil protein)

And I just purchased the Cantu Grow Strong and i think that has protein in it, but it is very far down...

When I say moisture I don't mean just moisturizers but you need to deep condition with a good moisturizing conditioner once a week. Nexxus humectress or keracare humecto are good moiturizing conditioners.

Thanks...I have some NTM at home that I want to use up...If it doesnt work I will look for some Humecto....

As a daily moisturizer I like ORS Olive Oil (in the jar) or Mizani Rose H20 (expensive). As far as moisturizing conditioners, I like Kenra(i think has a lil protein), NTM or Herbal Essence Replenishing. HTH

Same here. I notice that my hair really only shows need for Emergencee right after my no-lye touchup for some reason. Other than that any breakage I get is most likely from my hair crying for moisturizing deep conditions.

It could be the lack of moisture, but it could also be that the treatment has worn off.
Protein treatments don't last forever, they temporarily fill holes in the hair shaft.

Girl... I just got schooled by Sistaslick on this whole topic! I've been "proteining" the stew outta my hair! Definitely need more moisture. I pulled out my NTM and Humectress with the quickness! Here's the link to her Hair Breakage and Shedding 101...

Thanks for that link!!! That was soo helpful...

I am about to copy and paste that in my hair journal (giving Sistaslick her credit or course!)

If you have been proteining and moisturizing and still have problems you might try a roux porosity deep conditioner. My hair was dry and though not exactly breaking for the longest time I mean I was frustrated beyond words. After doing this once my hair went back to normal.

Now I am having problems again but I recently realized I needed more protein (very fine hair).

Sistaslick has the best advice ever - Go by how your hair feels. Today!

Co-signing. Like moisture, protein treatments are not permanent. Most of them say to use weekly. I think you're just over due for another.

I like the Grow Strong. Mango Butter was ok, but it wasn't moisturizing enough for me.

I agree with SistaSlick's instructions, and also the Porosity Control, which will help your hair hang on to the moisture. Good luck!

@ Elle . . .I find the cantu products to be a little protein rich too. The Break cure is more moisturizing than the Grow Strong though from the cantu line. :D For fairly proteinless moisturizers I stick with ORS olive oil, Neutragena triple Moisture silk touch leave in, and S-Curl.
