I just started the high protein challenge. I've added Whey Protein to my regimen. I absolutely HATE IT!!!!!!!! The taste is really horrible. :crying3: Just had to vent.

i unofficially joined last week too.

I could not take the protein shakes at ALL. but i started eating salmon & tuna everyday so.....we shall see what happens.

Yeah, I have the Designer Whey Vanilla and it is horrific when mixed with water. I just guzzle it down as fast as I can like medicine.

have you tried the Any-Whey??... that, to me, is as tasteless as they claim so i'm able to mix it in anything and get it down without forcing it...

I'm not in the challenge but I drink my protien with vanilla Silk Soy milk. You can even do it with skim milk if its a matter of expenses.

(I did the water thing for 10 years when I competed, its gross, so no thanks)

I'm also not keen on DW either. it always made me :fart: *lol*

Optimum Nutritions isn't bad (though I've never liked the chocolate at all)the vanilla and strawberry is good (strawberry is like Qwick:grin: )

These days I use LEF's Protien because its really easy on my tummy.

I drink soy protein and at first I hated the taste
Now I buy the chocolate flavor and I mix it with a banana and either Lactaid milk or soy milk in a blender
I make a liter and put it in a container in the fridge
I let it stay in the fridge overnight it tastes better after the flavors blend
I make enough to last for a few days. I just shake it up everday before I pour it into a glass
Now it tastes like a chocolate/banana shake :)

i love this stuff, i mix it with a banana, fat free milk and sometimes strawberries

i've learned never to use water because it makes things taste disgusting

I knoooooo that milk would be better but I reallllyyyy dislike milk. However, I will eat ice cream. Maybe I should mix it and make a shake. I'll probably gain weight :lachen:

Hi- I'm on a high protien diet as well. Watch yout tuna intake! Tuna is really high in mercury. It's a health hazard, especially for women.

I use Puritan's Pride protien shakes. I mix it with diff combos ripe bananas, strawberries and a little honey, and about 8 oz of skin milk (or 4 oz of orange juice & 4 oz milk- tastes like a creamsicle!) Whole Foods also has a really good protien powder in chocolate, as well.

If you put enough liquid in in less grainy tasting. I've had great success so far for both my hair & weight loss.

I started drinking it when I found out it was good for the hair and I was hoping I would gain weight.I've been drinking it for a month and I'm still 23lbs underweight according to my doctor(I've always been underweight nothing that I do seems to help and I'm 32 yrs old with 2 kids) so I'm not sure if others are gaining weight or not :perplexed

i love the designer whey french vanilla only when i add two packets of sweet n low and 2%milk it tastes just like a shake its so far the best tasting protein shake i ever had and i am also about to order muscle milk but mix it with soy milk vanilla we shall see. now with water the designer whey is so nasty:eek: and by itself with milk it tastes sugarless sometimes instead of two packets of sweet n low i put strawberry sirrup and one scoop of whipped cream omg it tastes just like milkshake so yummmmmmmmmmy:grin:

you know---i asked the meat guy at the grocery store about tuna and mercury and he told me this and that--but basically told me Albacore was fine.

So thanks for the post---i got on the net to research a bit and he really did not know what he was talking about. i should be eating AT THE MOST 2 cans of tuna per week--and should not eat it everyday.

I think I will stick to my salmon for the most part--it's mercury content is undetectable/very low.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info on Tuna. I've been eating tuna fillets everyday. I think I'm going to slow down on doing that now.

I purchased this Apple Melon protein drink and it's not bad just in plain water...I have a juicer so I am gonna juice a honeydew melon and some granny smith apples and then add the protein...I think that will be really good.

how much protein are you takin' to make your hair grow like that? what is the average growth per month??

Never had DW protein shake but the ones I've had are good, especially strawberry and vanillah. Maybe it's just the flavor you picked, try making milk shakes out of it or adding strawberry or chocolate syrup to it in a glass of milk and see if it taste better. HTH's

You have to continue drinking it for awhile b4 you will see weight gain your body will learn to maintain the weight you are first w/o fluctuating up and down. I've been drinking also for both purposes and I've began to see a difference after 3 months.

On another note-- Has anybody looked at the sodium content of their protein drink? I was guzzling that nasty stuff until my face swole up like i'd been stung. Then I looked at the sodium content and it said 2400 mg of sodium per serving  ! Hypertension and all sorts of kidney problems run in my family, so I threw that stuff out. I got it from GNC. Maybe i'll check for a substitute at Whole Foods or soemthing.
