MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME
It had been about 13 weeks since my last touch up and it snowed in the South where I DRIVE to get my hair did. I thought it was ridiculous to drive hours to get my hair done, but now I know why I DRIVE to get my hair done!
Anywhoo I went to this lady in NJ a couple of times previously (she use to be my hairdresser but she is WAY TOO inconvient and she was a little scissor happy). Well remember my hair ends WERE damaged due to the blowouts and a little thin. I think the winter assisted in the breaking process. But the Hairdresser HEIFER TRIPPED!
She was like oh my gosh your hair is awful oh my gosh u have so much new growth I can't believe it you shouldn't wait that long to get a relaxer. I said I do it to prevent overlap and why is my hair breaking or does the new growth look damaged-of course she says no. Anyway I said please do not overlap that has lead to my problems and start in the back of my head. She was like I got this I got this (my hair texture in the front is much straigher than the crown) Then this heifer starts in the back and applies the relaxer (no overlap), but CHECK this. I burn easily and as soon as the chemical is applied in my entire head it is time to take it out. She is like girl you had so much new growth it has to MARINATE! I was like no it doesn't and girl I am about to go to the sink and wash it out now MYSELF. The relaxer doesnt need to stay in my hair longfor the curl pattern to break down-and I told her I said my curl pattern breaks immediately so chill with the marination. So anywhoo she washes it out and I said we need to discuss the cutting.
She was like ok now your ends don't look as bad as I initially thought. We will take off between 1 to 2 inches. I am cool with that because I know I need it. She showed me how she much was cutting my hair in the mirror and showed me the thin ends. I am like cool cool cool.
Then she turns the chair around and goes to town. I don't have on my contacts and the glasses are off-mistake. I look at the hair on the floor and said hmmm it is not THAT much but there is a some! Anyway she does the doobie and wraps me and I go home.
The next day I take my hair down and this heifer has cut 6 inches yes 6 inches of my hair. It doesnt even touch my shoulders now. Previously my the back was 5 inches from my bra strap and now it doesnt even rest on my back.
I am like WHAT! I DEFINITELY don't have see through ends now but 6 inches was too much! That is a whole year's worth of hair growth. My friends saw me and were like we CANNOT believe it!!!!! My one friend called and said I didn't even want to say anything but she SCALPED you. Needless to say she will never see me again, and I am so disheartened I haven't even been able to wear my hair down. I wear it pulled up. So I plan on wearing my hair up all the time now. I may wear it down this summer. But now I know to NEVER go to someone I don't trust and insist that I want to watch the entire process. It is a shame! My hair hasn't been this short since I grew out my Halle Berry style in 1996/1997. Oh well what can one do except START over.
