Hey everybody:yay:,

I don't post very often but I wanted to share these pics with you all. I am 23 weeks post and just put my flat iron results from today in my fotki. I t went well I think but that was a lot of heat :wallbash:and I want to straighten 1-2 times per month. Do any naturals or transitioners or even anyone who streches more than 12 weeks have any success with roller setting or airdrying and then flatironing at getting the roots straight? What techniques and/or products help you? Also how long do the results last for you?

Well enjoy the pics and I will try to update a bit more frequently now :yep:.

Your hair turned out beautiful will try IC heat protectant since your hair turned out so straight.

Thanks everyone!! It was such hard work though - my arms were so tired after. But when I wrapped it I put a touch of the Aveda Brilliant anti humectant and when I took it down from the wrap, it made my hair so heavy and stiff, I lost the swing factor :perplexed. So I have it in bantu knots now and will see how that turns out.

Looks great! What flat iron did you use?

I used a Sedu Ceramic iron - that thing is da bomb!!!!!! Two passes and my hair was straight, even the roots :yep:.

yeah... i made that mistake too. too much of a good thing i guess... :(

my mom always used to do this when i was a kid, and i do it now that i'm all-natural so i don't use as much heat to get to my roots. i put about 12 ponytails in my hair right after washing/detangling so it dries straight, and i braid the ponytails to help pull the coils straight.

mrsjohnson75It looks nice ! I left a comment in your fotki..

Thank you !!

Alli77Trini, it looks really nice. I have a sedu too...still getting used to it. Your hair always looks thick and healthy.:yep:

Alli how are you chica?? How's the hair?? Obviously you see I had some setbacks but it will grow again I know it!! Are you still texturized? I am transitioning but now I am debating going to texturized AGAIN! I am soooo confused - just can't decide what i want :drunk:

LL - thanks for this tip!! I will try this when i have some time to kill and can go under my dryer. I even think I saw this about doing ponytails and rollersetting the ends!!

Hey Trini!! I'm doing ok, just keeping it simple with the hair. I've been weaving and braiding it a lot this year. This is the longest I've been without it in either (2 1/5 months) and I'm dying to weave it up again. When I did try and use my sedu it was a little bit above bsl. I'm hoping to make bsl this year, if not I'll just keep it moving.

I've been toying with the idea of going natural too, I think about it almost everyday. I'm still texturized but sometimes that can be trying too as you know.

23 weeks? My jaw dropped even though I know women on here have undertaken this task before.
Nice fotki and very informative every step of the way. Your hair looked very nice!

Thanks everyone for your comments!!

Okay I have a question, it's been 4 days and my roots are starting to revert :wallbash:. Is there a product that transitoners or naturals swear by when pressing to help prevent reversion??

I've been wearing in bantus which is okay but sometimes I just want it straight :yep:
