angel, your hair looked really nice in that pic! shiny and healthy! what made your hair start to fall out? was it correctable? also, how long have you been transitioning and are u doing so with or without the "big chop"??
Thanks for the compliment. I think that my hair fell out because I did not know how to care for my highlights. Plus I was using heat everyday
. Plus my hairdresser wanted to relax my hair every 4-6 weeks. Like an idiot I agreed, this resulted in thinning hair and more hair loss. I have another picture that I will post later that was taken a month later and you can see how dry my hair was.
What made me want to transition?
Well,I started to notice my hair beginning to slowly fall out in clumps after regular washings. I was devastaded
Some of the damage was correctable, but because I was so frustrated I asked my stylist to cut ~2-3 inches off. Since then I vowed to baby my hair and love it as much as I love myself.
Thanks to LHCF transitioning is not so bad. I started in February and I am slowly creating a regime that works for my hair type. I have had minumal breakage and my hair feels like BUTTA
Thanks for the compliemnt. Right now I am really babying my hair. I have not quite let go of the heat yet, you would think that I have learned my lesson. I do use my ceramic flat irons after I wash, but I plan to ax this regime by wearing braids for the rest of the summer. I have also invested in the cutest wigs so when I don't use the flat iron I wear my hair in plaits and rock the wigs.
I couldn't keep to it because I found myself sweating too much. It did help though me to keep my hands out of my head.
for using direct heat.
It's easier to ween yourself from the heat if you air dry in a ponytal or bun. It will pull your hair straighter at the roots, thus requiring less heat attention.
Ow that hurt!! I will try air drying in a ponytail. I always air dry in plaits. I never tried the ponytail because I thought my hair was too short. I'll let you know how it goes.
