I just got a clip two weeks ago because my ends were all spit/frizzy. after she clipped them my hair looked fantastic and I got a lot of compliments on my hair.

then I washed with Therappe a week later and if you guys saw my thread then you would know that it really, really dried my hair out. Now my ends are back to the way they were before she trimmed them! they arent split that bad but they are Frizzy and especially on one side. I really don't want to trim them AGAIN! Is there anything I can do to get them back? I've been putting NTM silk touch on them but thats not working. I do use heat and I use it once a week. My hair is cut into a bob and I really don't know how to style it without using heat.I really think i'm going to be one of those people that can't get pass a certain length and i will just have to cut it all off again. My hair isn't badly damaged but my ends are just holding me back. I got rid of the therappe and bought some CON so maybe that will help?

Erin558,

If i were you, I would never use the Nexxus Therappy again. I used to use it and it did the same thing to me. I currently use Keracare Humecto and it works wonders on conditioning my hair. The reason why you have problems with you ends is because they are always dry. Make sure you keep your ends moist at all times. I will deep condition every week and put oil oil on my ends. This has helped my ends drastically. I don't get trims as much as I used too.

Also keep in mind that dull scissors can mess up the ends of your hair terribly. If she used a pair that are worn, they can easily create ragged, rough ends which can then result in the frizziness you see, as well as cause ends to split later because the cut tore or shredded the hair, rather than creating a clean smooth cut.

I think I remember you saying in another post that you don't moisturize everyday? If that's the case you may need the extra moisture. You just have to find the right moisturizer that won't weigh your hair down.

All I can say is keep that back area moisturized. I don't think you need to get it cut just yet. Try and save it.

What kind of moistuizer do you use?

Is you hair relaxed or natural?
As long as you are conditioning regularly, I think you can feel free to flat iron your hair. The thing is, YOU MUST KEEP THOSE ENDS FROM PUFFING UP. When my hair was cut,

I shampooed/conditioned as often as it needed to refresh the style. You will lose more hair from not styling and straightening than you would from leaving the hair to air-dry. If you want to work without heat, you still have to style with gel or oil...just don't let those ends dry out. It's easier when the hair gets a little longer to wear a bun. Don't be afraid of using a good, quality flat iron with a heat protector. Also, mist the ends lightly several times a day with a leave in conditioner or something you make up in a spray bottle. (see fotki)

I moisturize my ends 3 or 4 times a day with JCS Nourish & Shine. Especially if I'm wearing my hair out.

I don't have a moisturizer but I use NTM silk touch ( for some reason I thought that was good enough?)

I keep reading about Mango Butter and when I went into the BSS tried it out and I really liked it.

yeah I got a really good ceramic flat iron a few months ago. I have a heat protectant as well.

What heat protectant are you using? maybe that's not cutting it, or just too much heat?

Beware of the CON as well. The formulas with Balsam in it arent great for your hair. Some people have had luck with it, others...not so much. Goodluck.

What is Balsam and why is it bad for the hair?

This is definitely not true. I am a strict air-dryer and I must say that air-drying has helped to get me past the length that my hair would stay when I was a heat user. (even though I was only using heat once a week)

Erin,
Air drying may work for you, but I understand your plight with needing heat to keep your bob sleek and fresh looking. Maybe you can air-dry and then use your ceramic iron to go over your hair and smooth and style it. Roller sets are a wonderful, healthy option--probably the healthiest option besides using no heat at all.

Also, depending on when you began a healthy hair regimen, you could still have hair on your head from times when you were not so into healthy hair care. If that hair was weakened or damaged back then, then it is now reaching the ends of your hair. I hope that makes sense.

I don't think it'll be a good idea to use Cream of Nature either, the balsalm causes some nasty build up so you'll have to clarify more often and it'll cause a viscious cycle... However a shampoo just as moisturizing as CON without that yucky film/ build up issue is Softsheen Breakthru. There used to be a bit of hype about it on the boards a while back.

CON does leave a nasty, icky build-up. I used to have to wash with a stronger shampoo, rinse, then use the CON otherwise my hair just stayed dirty.

balsam coats the hair and scalp. It is what give CON its slip. I still use CON succesfully but I don't use the one for relaxed hair, I use the volumizing one. I think that it contains less balsam b/c it does not coat as bad. I also cut it with some water.
