<font color="brown">Well, school started yesterday. As an unwritten rule, I we usually go through some sort of beauty ritual in order to get ready for the new year.

So, this year I let her get her eyebrows cleaned up (still full, but shaped). Then I gave her a facial and did her nails. But the real biggie for her was the fact that I let her try a color conditioner.

Her natural color is brown with sandy/blondish highlights (like Vanessa Williams). I applied the Aveda color enhancing conditoner in Bixa - whick adds warm copper tones. I treated it as a protein conditioner and followed up with an ACV rinse and moisturizing conditioner. Her hair is absolutely gorgeous! She was SOOO thankful and she has been admiring her hair ever since Sunday. It is so shiny and the color is just out of this world - still natural looking, but just beautiful.

When I first saw it, I was thinking, "Gosh, I wish I had lighter colored hair . . . "

Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you.

I'm excited for you and your daughter. How old is she if you don't mind my asking?

Oh and what an excellent idea with that beauty ritual---wanna be my mom?

Think my son will want a beauty ritual too? LOL!!

That is so sweet of you to have a ritual like that! How fun-you sound like a cool mom. How old is your daughter? That is so nice how she will always have a fresh new start every year looking different.

<font color="brown">My daughter is 13 - starting 8th grade. I figure that I only have a few more years with her wanting me to be involved with her "beauty regimen", so I try to do a lot of things like that with her - - so that I can teach her the proper way to do things without over doing it. I try to teach her to enhance her natural beauty by having clean/glowing skin, well groomed and conditoned hair, groomed nails, etc.

She told me that she likes for me to do her hair (wash, condition, set, etc.), but she definitely does NOT like for me to style it. She also likes for me to do her nails, but she HATES the colors that I would chose for her.

She is a dancer, and now that she is really progressing at her studio, she is starting to take a lot of photos. The really great thing is that they bring a professional photographer into the studio to take pictures for the ad book, recital programs and competition photos. Anyway, we try to keep her hair in top notch condition. We are still growing it out from the disaster of her first relaxer. But now that I am doing her relaxers, it is really getting thicker and longer, and she can actually wear it down sometimes. She doesn't have enough for a full "ballet bun" yet, but it is getting there!

Also, if you remember from a while back, my daughter is the one who is a total PJ for aromatherapy bath products. She spends her allowance in Bath and Body Works. I may be creating a monster . . .

Daviine - I don't think your son would have the same appreciation for a day of beauty!

so you can use the color conditioners and it will add color to your hair? like the ones that motions makes? I was looking at those thinking that maybe they would work, but never knew for sure..... I may have to try it......

That is so wonderful to hear. I am sure your daughter's self esteem is high to the sky! I know she looks great. Were are the pics?!

You know, I think I'll do this when my child starts school in a few weeks. She's only 10, but I can do something special to enhance her first day of school.

Angie,

You have started something here! That is really a great idea. My daughter is 10 and is so vain - she will not wear sandals with her toes painted, she always asks,"How are going to do my hair?", and always looking for clothes.
You are right, it helps with self esteem and teaches the to value themselves and succumb to society's view of beauty.

Thanks again Angie!

Nina

That is such a good idea!! You sound like a really good mother

When my daughter gets old enough, I want to do stuff like that with her as well. In the meantime, I try to do it with my little sister, but she's such a tomboy
