i still love your hair, and the color. if it is something you want to do, keep working at it. stay encouraged.

(love it straight though!)

What exactly did you use?? I've never done a braid out or a twist out so I'm not sure. If you did use setting foam maybe you used too much??

Angeleyes,

The first time that I did a braid out, it was not good. I looked like a mix between Benjamin Franklin and BeetleJuice .

I then watched Chinablk's video on youtube and my hair has never looked so good in a braidout!

Check out her video.

HTH

Thanks, Taz007, I definitely will! I really would like this style to work. I put it up in a ponytail when I got home...kinda like that:grin:. But don't want to wear ponies too much because I'm worried about breakage. Thanks for the youtube info!

When using setting lotion a lot of ladies here will dilute it 50/50 ratio. Also Have you ever tried Giovanni Direct leave in? It leaves my braid outs looking really good. Maybe just a leave in and some gel next time my yield better results.. HTH

Hi, I'm sorry about your experience. I have never done a twist-out, but I do braid-outs. I do not use setting lotion. I'll use a leave-in conditioner and seal my ends with an oil. I've found that the less product I use the better. I always rebraid at night, so I'll moisturize and seal again. I'm 10+ weeks post, so I've started adding a little castor oil to the truly unruly areas.

Good Luck!

I started watching the Youtube videos by you and others with Albinism. Thanks for sharing and informing people. There sure are some nasty people who make comments while hiding behind their computers. Sad!

I'm sure you'll get better at the twist-outs as time goes by. My first attempt was a tangled mess, too.

Yeah, I definately will delute or omit the setting lotion next time. It's been so long since I even used setting lotion that I forgot how it made my hair feel, LOL. No more experiments! Thanks for your suggestions, I appreciate them!

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed my vids!

I liked your video. I agree it might've been the setting lotion. I just learned recently my hair hates setting lotion like whoa so if I use it I really dilute it well.

I've found I can use it if I use it mixed with a little oil too but not very often at all.

I found that out the hard way today, LOL! Thanks for your imput, I appreciate it:yep:.

Sorry about the setback after your wonderful one year updates. Hopefully it's a minor setback. I didn't have much luck with braids out either. It didn't stay moisturized the entire day so I had some minor breakage when I tried to tame it at the end of the day.
