Has anyone used this for twists? I know this is not the norm for me I have found my staples for twisting. But I wanted to try this so I picked it up from the store. it seems to have a creamy texture and smells good, but when I think of murray's I think of my husband and son using it to lay their hair down. So does anyone have an opinion on it? I feel I may try it and if my hair starts acting up I will take the twists down in a heartbeat.

I have it. It has a really firm hold. I add oils and AVG to soften it up because I like a firm hold but not the stiffness. It reminds me slightly of EcoStyler.

It's ok but I won't be buying it again, mostly because I am giving up products with PVP or carbomer in the ingredients.

I've tried it and I wasn't really impressed. It leaves a film on my hair and didn't provide much hold. I like the smell but I won't ever buy it again.

faithVA So it's actually like a hard gel?? Booooo! Nope I don't want to use that on my hair. SO not worth it. The only gel like product I like for twists is the Organic root stimulator gel because it stays soft.

Always yeah the smell is good thats why I didn't mind picking it up, but for you it didn't leave any hold? This is so confusing maybe I should just stick to what I know.

Chameleonchick,

I thought that was funny. I said it had a lot of hold and Always~Wear~Joy said it didn't have enough. Just shows the variation in hair.
Yes it's not like the Organic root pudding ( I think that is what you meant).

If you want something that has a softer hold, you probably want to avoid most gels that have PVP or carbomer. PVP is a synthetic plastic type ingredient that is used to give gel firmness. Both the murrays and the eco styler contain it.

I LOVE this stuff. When i say I have 6 jars, I am NOT playing!!! lol. I fell in love with this stuff using it as a soft hold for my twist outs. After washing and conditioning, I would detangle and use this to set my twists. I got a soft hold of 2 or 3 days and I would pineapple for length. I'm shocked at the responses I see here. It is like my miracle twist out product. For me it's not a hard hold at all. The hair is soft, pilable, and shiny. I hate hard stiff, crunchy hair. Weird. I guess you'd have to try it for yourself to see how it works for you.

eta: I always use some kind of leave-in like hawaiian silky or Giovannis and I always twist on damp hair.

Loc and twist gel by murrays right? i love it as well. it's like a cheaper version of the jamaican twist and lock gel. I used it in my daughter's hair and did coils. I think they came out pretty well for my first time. I did them on Sunday and she still has them in. It very soft and the hold is great, not drying, crunchy., sticky or filmy. Just be sure not to use too much.

Here are a couple pics of her hair:

Apart from the gel, I used the shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie first, then an oil last.

I love it. I've used it to get comb coils done. I had tried other things like beeswax :nono: and ORS :nono: but didn't like them. I had no complains about Loc-Lock. However, the girl doing my comb coils didn't like the texture. I think she preferred a thicker texture so she could grip easier.
