Hola Ladies!

So I've been working on my protective styling and decided I wanted to give do it yourself weaves a try. My braiding isn't the best it could be (I barely make do) and Im over wigs for the moment. This leaves me with one option........GLUE! BUT before you stone me to healthy hair hell, I think I have found a loop hole.

Gro Protect Solutions. I've done my research all over the net; youtube, testimonials, and I even hit up a few sights to compare pricing. lol Now all I need is the final blessing from the lhcf family. I did search the forum but all I came up with was quick mentions in threads discussing(or ridiculing ) the old school "gelling" method.

So my healthy hair rulers..what say you??

I mastered my glue removal when I was relaxed. I never had my hair stuck to my tracks or anything patches missing from my head . That was before the gro protect solutions came out. I wanted to order some but 20+ dollars on a little bottle turned me off. :nono:

I wish I could say the same. lol After a terrible prom hair incident (this made me become a DIYer AND go natural lol) I decided glue wasn't for me but this has kind of given me hope. I found some reasonably priced 2oz bottles on ebay so I can give it a one time try before I really invest.

BUMMPPP!! I was able to find some locally in LA. To the future ladies looking for some there is a beauty supply off Crenshaw and Rodeo that sells both the little and big bottles. I paid $7.99 for the 2oz. I'll be back in two weeks once I'm taking it down, to let you know how I like it.

I used it many times before and I really liked it. The only issue was I couldn't keep the hair style longer than two weeks bc I would want to wash my hair. I never loss any hair and my hair is really thick so it was a miracle for me. Just make sure u let everything dry and all your hair is coated with the gps.

I'm really big into various approaches to weaves and I'm very familiar with this product, let me tell you OP, I think using this is a mistake.

It's a thick, black hard substance that you glue on top of, your scalp isn't allowed to breathe, you cannot moisturize and seal, you can't DC and it only lasts 2-3 weeks. In my book a style that can't pass the 1-month mark and that requires that you leave your hair dirty is not protective. If you take a look at the vast majority of people that do glue in quickweaves regularly, you'll see they have damaged short broken off hair and have very little awareness of healthy haircare.

If you want the versatility of weaves or wigs I suggest you make your own sew-in wigs in various styles. As for braiding, my advice is work on it till you master it, there are endless tutorials on YT, it's a super important skill, but untill you master that you can just do box braids for a flat base.

OP, you don't now anybody else that can braid? Have somebody braid your hair for you and do the sewing yourself. I've done it before. My braiding skills aren't that great.

I brought some about 2yrs ago before it became popular I actually still have some in the bottle...lol..i only used it when I wanted a quickweave for like a week or two. It does get hard and you cant moisturize or wet your hair because its molded down and water removes the product. u can moisturize your hair before adding the product. I really liked it because it leaves no glue on your hair and my hair was always very soft after rinsing out the product. I have also used it when just bonding one or two tracks with my real hair so I will not have hair loss when removing tracks bonded with liquid gold or black glue. I am able to moisturize that way but I would not neccesarily use this for a staple in your HHJ.

:bump:

Any more thoughts on Morning Glory? I will be getting a weave done on Tuesday and will be getting my hair molded with Morning Glory placed on top. They say I can keep it in a month, but I will probably be ready to wash my hair after two weeks.

It worked well as far as keeping the glue of my hair, but it only lasted a week or two max. My scalp was itching like crazy. It had to go!

ITA...! They sell mannequins at Sallys andyou can buy one and practice braiding on there or your own head. I think it's safer than glue directly on the hair but still that's 2-4 weeks without touching your scalp... I couldn't do it...
