Does anyone find that their hair does not like waterbased moisturizers or even oils? I am really wondering if I should just stop using them they don't seem to agree with my hair...

My hair does not like all the raved moisturizers. As a matter of fact some of them just sit on my hair and make it feel too oily or dirty.

I have had better luck with using a moisturizing leave-in on my wet hair when I shampooo twice a week. I put a little kemi oil on my hair a few times a week as well.

Sometimes my ends need alittle more TLC and I the Loreal Paris Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz leave in Cream on dry hair has proved to be a good non-oily choice.

my hair doesn't like oils, they make my hair crunchy so i don't seal with them, i've tried avocado, castor, olive, sweet almond, coconut, grapeseed and they all yeild the same result, it doesn't matter if i use a little or alot, i get the same result

jojoba oil doesn't make my hair crunchy but my ends are in better shape when i moisturize without sealing

i can use a little, i mean very little jojoba oil to help slick my edges with water and that's about it

Exactly!!! I have noticed practicly everything makes my hair crunchy except for serums & conditioners applied to damp hair...I thought I was the only one.. I have tried them all with the same results...Thank you so much ladies.

nope, not the only one

the only leave ins i have success with are star lacio lacio when i do my roller sets and abba nourishing or elucence when i wear my hair pulled back

salerm worked ok for me too but i prefer lacio and abba/elucence

Do you guys have fine textured hair also? I am 4a with some 3c in the back..When I went to the dominican salon they would tell me to only use the serum every other day because it would make my hair greasy...I have some of the lacio lacio at home I will try that...I think I had it drummed into my head that I needed moisturizers because Cathy Howse stressed its need so much..

My hair does not like many things, including oils and many of the popular moisturizers. It does very well if I simply cowash daily and use a leave in. It stays soft and feels great. When I start adding things and experimenting with oils and other moisturizers, it almost always starts feeling awful, knotty, crunchy, etc.

I feel kind of strange not using oils and some of these moisturizers that are supposed to be so good for the hair. I sometimes make the mistake of going back to them. But I really have to listen to my own hair.

yes i have fine hair, i'm 4a, most things weight my hair down and i don't moisturize daily either, i moisturize like every two days

I have the same experience. However, I have learned to use different things when my hair calls for it. Just like I have five different kinds of hair combs (don't ask), I have different kinds of hairdresses. It usually only takes one, I just have to find out which one. My hair is SO finicky and I can only use certain things at certain times, which is frustrating since my hair can dry out easily. But me and this hair go waaaaay back and I've learned to listen to "her" when she's fussing . Find out what your hair is asking for and give it to "her." She'll thank you for it later :wink2:!
