I wish somebody would finally answer that question lol! I am also waiting ....

I love affirm. I have used Mizani twice and hated ut. Its very strong and it relaxes very quickly. It also broke my hair slighly. I been usin affirm on and off for years. I always go back. Their milds are actually mild imo...good luck making a decision

I have tried both... Currently, using the Mizani... They are Both Lye relaxers, to me there is not much of a difference... They both leave my hair moisturized and silky after application, although I may need to downgrade to the lowest mix, because the Mild perms fast, whereas with the Affirm it was just right... to negate this issue I grease scalp heavily before going in...
The reason for the switch, I felt that the Affirm wasn't taking and wanted to try something new... I did have my tub for over a year, though... :perplexed..

I just have stuck with the Mizani, because it is easier to travel with...

In the beginning of '08 I started going back to the salon for my touch-ups and my stylist used Affirm. I was hesistate about this relaxer b/c pre-LHCF I believed this relaxer dried out my hair. Well, I gave in and long and behold I recently noticed that my hair is starting to look dry again. Last week my aunt gave me a touch-up using Motions and I immediatley saw a difference. My hair was able to hold moisture better and looked silky.

I'm going to try the Mizani butter blend for my next touch-up...I'm done with Affirm.

A lot of people I know in real life say Affirm dries out their hair whether it's lye or no-lye.

Well affirm has no lye relaxers. The one I use (moisture plus sensitive scalp in mild) is no lye. And I'm texlaxed so it not processing fast is a plus for me

I was referring to the Perm I used..... Which was lye... I stated that the Mizani processes fast not the Affirm Lye...

I can't vote because I have only used affirm. but if I learn one thing here it is that different hair react to products differently.

I also grease all my hair before I get a perm. I don't want my hair bone straight

I've used Affirm for about 10 years now. I used Mizani once and it burned my scalp, but I have no idea what "type" of Mizani was used and I can't even remember if she based my scalp.:ohwell: I used Affirm no-lye for years - it was very drying but it did the job. I switched to a new stylist about 2 years ago and she uses Affirm Lye for Sensitive Scalp and I fell in love. My hair is no longer perpetually dry, relaxes nicely and it doesn't burn. Affirm for me all the way.

Mizani Butter Blend (Lye) - I use the fine/color treated -love it....Affirm is okay and if I could not get access to Mizani, I MAY use the Affirm

Mizani Butter Blends all the way!! :yep:

No burns, no overprocessing, no irritations.....I simply LOVE it.

I have used the affirm lye and no lye perms. They do nothing for my wavy hair and it dryed it out. 6 weeks later I had to get another relaxer, usually every 12-16 weeks is my relaxer time.

I'm using Mizani Butter Blend, in the next few weeks will be my 2nd touch up. I'm using the mild lye and for the most part I like the results. I've used Affirm and stopped because it was thinning my very thick strands of hair, making my thick head of hair look like I had fine hair. I love the texture that my hair has with the Mizani, very full!

here is a complex question:

When getting a relaxer...you only relax the new growth. So how is it that ladies say one or the other dried hair out or didn't. Are you making the decision based on how the relaxer run-off affects the already relaxed hair OR are you making the decision based only on how the newgrowth feels. To me it seems that you would have to wait until the new growth grew out a few months in order to tell. Educate me please!
