Mizani Relaxer...BAD?

I was talking to my friend the other day and she was telling me about how the Mizani relaxer broke off her hair and that it was basically a really strong relaxer that left her with no curl at all when her hair was wet. She is a 3C and has now switched to something else after cutting all the overprocessed hair off.

Has anyone else had bad results with Mizani?

I got a mizani sensitive scalp relaxer last month and I didn't have any bad results with it. I am rellay happy with the results that I got.

I was getting Mizani relaxers for a couple of years and I had no ill effects, either. My hair was actually pretty nice at that time, but I still jumped at the chance to get back to Motions when my stylist moved and I changed shops /images/graemlins/smile.gif. Oh, and I usually have VERY little curl when my hair is wet no matter what relaxer I use.

I loved Mizani before I went natural. Perhaps your friend used the wrong strength. Anyhow, relaxers are usually not the problem when we have bad results, it usually boils down to them being applied improperly (i.e. the stylist leaving it on too long, not basing well, or overbasing the newgrowth, etc).

I used Mizani for years with no problems. But now that i have switched to Affirm, I see that Mizani was too strong for my hair and robbed it of body and volume.

My hair was breaking off when I was going to my old stylist and she used mizani. I'm not sure if it was the relaxer or her though.

I used Mizani for years with no problems. I had to stop using it because the salons over here in Germany only use Affirm or Motions. I now do my own relaxer though. I think it was stylist and not the relaxer. I'm a 4a/b and Mizani left my hair soft and smooth just like I like it. I'm so glad I can by it online now. I'm going back to it with my next retouch.

I have been using Mizani relaxer for a year now. I have retained about 5 inches of new growth.

Your friend must have done something wrong.

I talked to her again about it, she said that her hairdresser applied it too often and too long because she kept wanting to get her hair straight, when she kept getting a wave in it, so then it got straight and overprocessed. But she said most beauticians she talked to (she works PT as a receptionist at a salon/day spa) said Mizani is a pretty strong relaxer.

I used Mizani once and will never used it again. My hair was hard and crisp. Luckily I had a short haircut then so I was cutting on the regular. I think it depends on your hair texture. But I found it to be horrible on my hair. I will never switch from Affirm again!

When I used Mizani it irritated my scalp really bad, that could have just been the fault of the beautician though. It was sensitive scalp, my scalped felt stripped. I tried to use oil to soothe the feeling, but it took a couple of weeks for everything to get back to normal.

I used Mizani once and it broke my hair off. It could've been the application. I was also told that the old Mizani didn't work well with color and I had highlights at the time.

My only problem was due to operator error or should I say ditzy shampoo girl error. Lost a patch right at the nape on the right side. Wore high ponytails for six months until it grew back enough to blend wearing it out. Live and learn!

My stylist tried using the Mizani Mild on my hair and it set my scalp to flames. It's the only relaxer I'd ever had that burned, so that was my first and last experience with it.
