I used Mizani Butter Blend Lye relaxer for course and resistant hair this past weekend and I was excited about using it because of all of the reviews. I based my scalp the night before and the day of because I have a sensitive scalp. I applied it with in 15 min and let it process for about 30 min. I still end up burning

. I smooth and smooth and it was not getting straight. I had to wash out because my head was on FIRE

. I have a before and after pic. Let me know if this has happened to you. I might go with Silk Elements lye next time.

IN my opinion Mizani Butter blends does not process as straight some of the other lye relaxes becasue it has many buffers (honey, shea butter, etc)

I use this relaxer and the smoothing process for the back is 3x's (ecxept fot eh nape and sides) and let sit for 5-8 mins and I still dont get bone straight (which is what I want). All together my application and processing/smoothing comes to about 20-25 min.I do the back and front seperately

The front I take 1 cup of the is relaxer and put in 1 T of protein and apply and smooth 1x and then rinse immediately. its not bone straight either.

Yes, I am underprocessed too. I used Super as well. I only left it on 15 mins because I started burning, but I don't think I based my scalp well enough. I'm going to give it another try, but I might go back to SE too.

I use the regular strength. Do you roller set afterwards? It should come out smooth and look like any bone laxed hair, except thicker, like a press on natural hair. I prefer it to previous relaxers which left my hair very limp and overprocessed.

I know this question was not directed towards me but

I used Reg in the beginning. it was a disaster I was left with just elongated more defined coils and that was afer smoothing for 3x and leaving it on 40 min (was left with a sore scalp as well)

The front the reg worked fine smoothing 2x.

One has to take into consideration teh density of strand and density of the hair. I have fine/med and course strands in the back this is why reg did not work for me.

I am about to finish up my butter blends in March and I think I am going to try something else.

I like it! Next time you burn pour aloe vera juice on your scalp ASAP... it stops burning and heals your scalp.

Thank you I will try that. I have a bottle now. I surly did get some scalp burns.

I thought I based mine good but I guess not but I will try the Summit Sensitive Scalp base next.

Do you texlax or do you just not like bone straight?

Yes, it happened to me most of 2010. I used MBB Lye Regular.:nono:

However, November 2010, I switched to MBB No-Lye and for Me (and My Hair)............It was the best decision I made for MY Hair in 2010.:yep:

I was underprocessed, had loc'ing, & matting. It was a Nightmare.

The ONLY Positive: I never burned.

i luv mbb lye but i use it as a texturizer versus to achieve a str8 relaxed look...so i can see why it would make your hair under processed...

Yes, It left me under-processed too...except when I went to a stylist one time over the summer she used the same relaxer and was able to get my hair silky smooth. I don't understand because i smoothed and smoothed and left it on to process and I was still way under processed when I self-relax. I switched to Nairobi relaxer which was a little better.

I love Mizani BB and wouldn't use any other relaxer for my hair. I have very sensitive scalp too and that's the reason I use their relaxer for sensitive scalp. I've never burned and my hair always comes out straight; not bone straight, but straight (no underprocessing). Maybe you should try Mizani BB for sensitive scalp and see what happens.

princessdi

This is what I am currently using. MBB Sensitive Scalp No-Lye Regular.

I read somewhere that a super relaxer just processes faster and it is not strong than a regular relaxer. I believe under processed hair is healthier. I no longer relax, but I would use lye relaxers if I ever decided to texlax again.

That's interesting. What kind of scalp protector are you using? I use Mizani's BB Butter Base which works really well for me. I credit that to no burning.

OP...what products were on your ng when u relaxed?

this relaxer seems like it processes the same way as the one i use. I gained success when i had absolutely no product on my ng.

Well I did a protein treatment a week before and i used a DC and leave-in. I didn't put any thing on my scalp just moisturizer on my hair. (i guess that was also why I was underprocessed):perplexed

I think I'm going to try this next time.

Last time, I used some crap from Sally's. It had MENTHOL in it (which I realized after I read the ingredients). It was supposed to "cool" but I think it opened up my pores :perplexed. I didn't burn because I washed it out as soon as I felt tingling, but that definitely limited my processing time.
