Mizani BB is a lye relaxer. I don't know which strength would be better for you...Are you going for a straight or texlaxed look? Which relaxer strength did you use before?

Thank you so much. I use to use Affrim regular but since I will be relaxing after a year I thougt I should use a stronger relaxer.

It comes in lye and no lye. I used no lye sensitive scalp. I do have resistant hair and it got me straight.

I actually looked up every ingredient on the container and I found sodium hydroxide = lye:yep: So I have a lye relaxer and that is what I wanted.

Great! Glad you got the one you wanted, before my appointment i made my stylist call l'oreal to confirm that i was getting the no lye and she had to mix it to activate it.

The sensitive formula has Calcium Hydroxide with Arginine.

I haven't used Mizani BB before but will you be self relaxing? I am a self relaxer and I prefer mild formulas because I can let it process longer rather than getting scalp burns from super strength. My hair is resistant but I still get straight results because I just know my hair now and how it reacts to my relaxer. Coming from a long stretch can be hard to get really good results (especially when using a different brand) when self relaxing but if I have to use a milder formula and take more time it is worth it not to lose my progress. I did a six month stretch and used a strong relaxer in a brand I had not used before and it burned so badly I had to rinse it out early. I wish I stuck to the brand I was familiar with after the stretch. Relaxing a test patch first would be a good idea so you can judge the results and get the timing right.

Yeah I am going to self relax in Nov so I still got time to do the research. There arent many places to go to gete a relaxer here so I got to do it myself. I have been practicing by applying my DC like a relaxer.

I used to self relax about 10 yrs ago and then just got spoiled going to the salon. I have also read sistaslick articles and I plan to relax in sections like LondonDiva.

Any other tips will be appreciated.

Hi SS - the MBB comes in both Lye and No-Lye...I use the MBB Lye and it is very mild - I have baby fine and when I leave this in for the max amount of time I am still slightly texlaxed. I just started doing my own relaxers the beginning of this year. I add a little Keratin and SAA to mine. Because this relaxer is not as strong as most I would recommend the regular strength but if you want bone straight I would recommend the Super. I would never recommend Super in any other relaxer.
